Paying PSN subscribers will gain access to exclusive digital content, beta invitiations, full PSN games, games on demand and discounts on the PlayStation Store, Sony says.

Subscription will arrive later this month and costs $49.99 for a year's subscription or $17.99 for three months. For a limited time Sony will be giving away three months for free.

From a other source I have read that they will get free ps one games free premium avatar stuff and free themes

at least they get something when they subscribe.

we poor xbox users only get the right to play through our own payed internet..........

and no xbox live offers in my opinion nothing that couldn't be done free ( a lot of games are even p2p so no dedicated servers. )

All those features that you mention are pretty much exactly the same as what's already available to paying Gold members of XBL. Exclusive digital content - YES. Beta invitations - YES. Full XBLA games - YES. Games on Demand - YES. Premium themes and avatar stuff for free - You pay for most stuff as PSN subscribers will, but like PSN is touting, XBL occasionally has premium themes and avatar stuff for free. And most of that so called "Free" stuff you talk about is all promotional anyway to get people to sign up. Just as most of the "free" stuff on XBL is.

For $50 bucks a year? Are you kidding? And hardcore Sony fanboys claimed Live was a rip-off. I do believe this is the beginning of the end for free gameplay over PSN.

I thought at first that it was a good idea for all the " free " arcade games and demos etc...

The reality is that your're only renting them..Once you stop paying that monthly fee, kiss goodbye to all of them...
