i've had my xbox 360 for years now, and i've had to get it repaired like 4 or 5 times. why can't Microsoft just make a console that won't break down? i don't misuse or abuse it, and i don't keep it in an enclosed area where it won't be able to vent the heat.

i'm going to buy another one, but i'm not going to buy a new one because i don't want to reward microsoft for making hardware that breaks. i'm just going to buy a refurbished one from gamestop or something.

Cheap parts used especially with holding in the chip in the motherboard. Slims are so much better though. I think Microsoft finally retified their long standing problem even though Slims have their own problems but nothing like the phats. I love my slim.

I've had more trouble with my PS3 than I have with my 360.

Every console/machine has issues, some are just more universal than others.

"why can't Microsoft just make a console that won't break down?" They did nearly two years ago. I'm talking about the new 360 of course. Why take your chances with refurbished consoles? I traded my old, junk refurbished 360 in to Gamestop for the new Xbox 360, back when they first came out. It's been working flawlessly since. Let me say this again. I traded my old, junk Xbox 360 in to Gamestop. So, it goes to show what you might buy from them.

Because of the cheap shoddy parts that they threw together in a box so they could be first out of the gate at the start of the generation.

As an above user said, they already made Xbox 360 consoles that do not break down so much. Buy consoles with the Falcon or Jasper revisions, or buy the new Xbox 360 Slim, and you will notice the difference. I leave my Xbox 360 Slim on all day and all night, every day, set to playing games with a wired controller, and my Xbox 360 has not even frozen, let alone broken down.

Of course, that being said, all technology breaks down at some point, so it would be impossible to build an infinite life span for the Xbox 360.

Microsoft is always cheap. Lol, all the Office, Outlook, and other such applications actually destroy your computer. The owner, Bill Gates, had his family pay for his business. But whatever, I still love the games and at least Microsoft is decent enough to "fix" the consoles.

Mine only broke once, I almost fixed it before. My Elite is still going well, it's older than my last Xbox I had.

No offense, I love Microsoft for making Halo and Gears, but they don't give a flying f*ck about their customers

the original Xbox wasn't cheap. That thing wasn't even profitable for them, they lost money on every single one of those 23 million consoles that were sold at retail. the 360 was their attempt at being cheap and it backfired horrendously.

Not sure how MS Office could be considered a virus, it's an expensive software suite that just works well. And I believe he got a loan from a neighbor to start his business. Not sure how that's a bad thing and it doesn't really matter who it was, since loaning that guy money would have been the best investment you could have ever made.

I'm not sure why they always break, I only had the Red Ring once, and that was back in 06 when they first released, or maybe it was 05, I forget, but I sent it over to them, then they sent it back after fixing it, and I never had a problem after. I will say my xbox tray sometimes takes a min or two to open when pressing the eject button, sometimes have to press down hard on it, but lately it hasn't done that which is all good.

I think the problem with Microsoft is they don't want to work for their money by making something more quality-ish. Just lazy.

Luckily I haven't had any problems with mine.

But I'm going with a PS3 because I hate what they did to the interface and they are forcing Kinect on us.

"the 360 was their attempt at being cheap and it backfired horrendously."

This was what I meant. Sorry if I worded it wrong and caused confusion before.

"Not sure how MS Office could be considered a virus, it's an expensive software suite that just works well"

Not a virus. But it is accessible by new users, and kids, who are not told when they buy the programs along with new computers that this software will cause major defragmentation and cause the computer to run so hard that in under 3 years, a computer that would have lasted 5-7 years, will be useless. Using Jarte + Web Browsers + Notepad mostly does the same thing. But oh well, I love Microsoft Office, it makes things easier, and I know how to handle computers now through trial and error, so not a big deal.

Just like any good story needs a good explanation of the past events of a character, so to do I need to enlighten people on my way of thinking. I am a person who believes in giving 100% of the information to every single being that can understand that information (if they do not, I will try to teach them how to understand). I do not believe in things like, "Google it", or "Read the book". If someone has a question, ask it, and either I, or someone else should be able to answer it. That is why even for the companies that are only abusing people on a moderate level are looked down upon by me.

That being said, I love the things Microsoft makes though, and I have nothing against the company personally. There are things I like, things I do not like, the company itself bears no meaning to me.

The neighbour giving him a loan is a cover up. In the world, where there are so many prejudices and jealousy, how many people would buy items from a guy who admitted to being spoon fed?

this is a joke right?? you dont want to reward microsoft but you want to reward a company that rips people of daily? anyways theres your problem your not buying a new console.. you keep buying/fixing the old one that fails.. each time you fix it its $150. go spend 300 on a nice new one

I think that Microsoft simply stumbled when they made the original 360-- whether it was just laziness, deliberate, or an accident. Hopefully, they won't make the same mistake with their next console.

The newer 360s seem far less prone to breaking down, so apparently, Microsoft has learned their lesson on the RROD front.
