Why dont most 360 users play their 360 in high def?

That is assuming you go HD in the first place.

Many people don't buy the right cables for HD and so continue to use the AV cable that they always used rather than any of the different HD cables.

Not everyone has an HDTV and most of those can't afford one. I'm perfectly fine with my SDTV at the moment, and don't plan on changing for a while.

Set it up for them providing they have the right cables, if they dont force them to buying them :P. If they do not agree the difference if astonishing cut out their eyes and sell them on the black market, they dont deserves them...

I don't see a reason to spends hundreds of dollars out of my wallet to get an HDTV that I will hardly have time to use, seeing as I don't play my 360 as much as I used to.

I had a friend plug his 360 into his HDTV with the composite video cable when he had the component HD wires that came with the 360. I had to slap him and set up his system properly. Later on I bought him a HDMI cable from ebay and installed that... he couldn't believe that he had been using SD on his HDTV for so long.

*sigh*

I don't have an HD TV. Don't feel like spending money for a graphics upgrade, nothing else will use the HD TV, though it does look nice on a HD TV.

As long as to you it looks good, play it like that. I have mates that play on the oldest TVs but they're happy like that - and they aren't exactly n00bs they play regularly on live. Me on the other hand, if I didn't have an HDTV I'd be playing on this monitor coz I can't handle crappy SD.

Rofl I don't know anyone that has an HDTV and doesn't play games in HD. I believe all 360's come with component cables to get an HD picture, so if you have an HDTV there's really no reason you shouldn't be playing in HD (especially with cables included with the console). I'm just curious as to whether or not your friend actually thought he saw a difference between playing on his tv or one with SD lol.

I know what you mean, I have a couple of friends that play their 360 on an HDTV but only uses standard component cables. My guessing is that they don't know how to or they think they're playing it on HD even though what they're really playing is only 480p.

It doesn't look bad on SDTV, it just doesn't look crisp and clean. If you're talking about playing in standard definition on an HDTV then I can understand that because the pixels gets really stretched out and sometimes it is very hard to see what is on screen.

I think the TC was more referring to people who have HDTVs but don't use HDMI cables... which I see alot. It's sort of a total waste. Off topic, however... I find it a little ironic that your username is "Next-Gen-Tec" but your playing an Xbox 360 on an SDTV. That's not supposed to be an insult or anything, alot of people haven't upgraded, because not only is the TV a ton of money, but then you have to upgrade to HD reciever for sattelite or cable, pay more for HD television service, uprgrade you DVD payer to an upscaler or Blu-ray player. It's a huge investment, and this isn't the economic climate in which one spends all that money on a television. I just thought it was funny.

If you have an HDTV you don't have to have a sattelite HD receiver & HD service or do you need Blu Ray or an upscaler.

Heh, funny thing about these economic times is people are spending big bucks on televisions these days. They are selling more than before because now they can stay at home and avoidy taking the family out to eat.

[QUOTE="shawn7324"] I noticed a huge difference just going from my SDTV to my Plasma HDTV on dvd movies & shows played on my xbox 360.

Yes, standard DVDs play great on HDTVs. I got a HDTV only for gaming. I couldn't care less about HD television channels or Bluray. In fact, I am thinking about canceling my cable altogether because I don't watch TV anymore since I've gotten Netflix. Most free time I have goes toward gaming.

Hooked mine up to a PC monitor when we bought a new PC... used the old monitor for the new tower and picked up some cables and attached my 360 to the 22" flat screen monitor that came with the new one.

This is the strangest thread ever... lol...

how do you know MOST 360 owners do or don't play in HD?

any way. i don't, and it's mainly due to the cost. i don't want an HD TV just for 360. if i had two grand to spend on a home cinema equipment, i'd defo buy into it. thing is, I, like most others at the moment, just don't have that kinda cash just lying around. and if they do, they certainly don't have kids and/or a family to support. I'd love to play RESI 5 in HD. but, untill the cost comes down or my pub(I'm a pub landlord)starts making more money, i'm not getting HD.

though, on the flip side, i will be investing in HD projection for my pub over the next 12 months. hopefully before the world cup starts, as i see it as a draw for extra business. although, that really depends weather or not my punters will even give a **** if i got got it! lol

and i might even get a HD projection TV for myself at some point as it's vastly cheaper than a plasma or LCD set. but give equal if not better performance. plus i can make the screen as big as i want it, up to 200"(so i've read!?)

besides.isn't3D tv just around the corner!?

It is. We already have the technology in our homes with PCs. Nvidia has 3D for the computer, and 3D television isn't far behind. I suspect that the next generation will be 3D.

what is everyone talking about right cables? why would you need to buy any more cables for the it? my 360 came with both the standard AND HD cables in one adapter. dont they all come that way? assuming maybe the pro is the only exception...

Well people who have an HD and don't play it in HD should have noticed why it looks so bad and done something. 480i stretched is horrible on an HDTV. It only looks good on a tube TV with component cables.
