Why don't they sell edited version of GTA IV?

I was thinking for kids like me that can't play it, because i understand that it is just a game, and the violence, langauge, and drug parts of it do not affect me at all...

but its the sex scenes that are bad... they are why i can't play the game...

so why don't they sell copies where you don't have to have gfs or have sex?

I mean, is it a major part of the game?

I have wondered though why they don't make AO rated games to be sold just like x rated movies. Like make an AO version and an M rated version. Then have a store that sells AO rated games as well as M rated ones. Then have the normal places sell M rated games. They could make it so you have to be over 18 to go into the store that sells the AO games. I think this is what they should do with the AO games.

Yea because itd be much better to expose young people to ideas of mass murder, gun violence, hard drugs, drink driving than SHOCK HORROR the thought of them learning about something like sex...marshbaboon

seeing sex makes me think about sex... plain and simple... and i don't want that...

It always cracks me up to that such a big deal was made over the ME sex thing - It was a PG movie scene - MAYBE if you really stretched it PG13 - but I've seen standard PG movies with more nudity and sex than Mass Effect had.

Agree with all of the above posts except for TC's...the sex in GTA IV is nothing compared to Mass Effect's, which we're PG rated scenes anyways. Like someone else said, there's some really bad, uhm, voiceovers that you hear, and a chick in a bikini dances around your lap. woooo.

and yes, it's quite strange that you can think about slaughtering thousands of cops, dealing all types of drugs, be involved in ruthless organized crime, but can't see some skin for a few seconds..

The main reason that GTA is so successful is because of all the extreme violence/sex/drugs/crime. Without those, GTA is a racing game where you just wander around aimlessly. And you would never be able to have a version where only the sex is censored, if you sensored one part everyone would want something else censored and next thing you know GTA = nintendogs.tdavis20050

Well then, I'd have to say you're probably screwed. Edited games are pretty much non-existent. But you could still try to explain to him that those parts of the game are optional? See how it goes.

The reason they don't make an edited GTA is because hardly anybody would buy it, the GTA franchise is famous and well liked because you can do pretty much everything from killing cops to taking out a girl.ctfvyrsgurbnorn

They wouldn't do that because it's censorship and it's disgusting. You aren't the intended audience anyway, so why should they make an edited game, and do you really think you're dad would let you get it then? Because he'd probably just find some other problem with it.

No company wants to make AO games because major retailers won't carry it. Walmart, Bestbuy, etc won't sell AO games and companies need their games selling in these places if they want to sell decent numbers.

That is why I said that they could have stores just for selling M and AO rated games. They don't even have to make a lot of copies of the AO games. Just so people can experience the game the way it was meant to be played. I think that would be the best salution to the whole AO rated games on console problem. Only problem is to get the console companies to go along with it. I mean they make AO rated PC games that people buy so why not console ones.

No PG rated movie since around the late 80s has had the nudity ME had. Until around 87, there were only G, PG, and R ratings, so it was common for PG movies to have nudity/cursing. Not anymore though, accept maybe in a native documentary or cartoon rear nudity.

dude, just grow up, wait a couple years. im sick and tired of kids complaining that their parents wont let them play GTA. its a VERY MATURE game. the language is very strong and constant. the drug use is very strong and constant. the violence is very strong and constant. this is a very mature game and should not be played by kids, period. the sex is probably the least offensive aspect of the game. but to think you know that "the drugs, language, and violence wont affect me" but the sex will... is immature and your just not ready for gta.

AND you dont want to play this game around your parents, it would just be awkward and reafirm their thoughts that you are too young.

Very true. Look at it this way, having sex is natural, taking drugs and randomly killing pedestrians is illegal. The sex scenes are minimal, and is the last thing you should worry about when playing this game, even if you think you won't be effected by the violence and drugs etc, they're a lot more shocking then the sex scenes.

If you're not ready to think about sex, then you're nowhere near ready to see the violence in GTA. This game wasn't created for "kids".

I am sorry that Christianity has brainwashed you to the point where you are afraid of sex. I think that the game is fine the way it is. If they censored the game, it would get to the point where you sprinkle fairy dust on the enemies instead of bullets.
