I just want strangers to put a little effort into working together on CoD or Halo. Is that too much? I ask where snipers are I tell people where they are and when I see people sneaking up on them and they dont care or answer. I know maby I am asking for a lot but, Im frustrated!

If you're looking for teamwork, start/join a clan with people who are the same. People use mics for trashtalk because they know they can say anything they want because they're never going to meet the people. Normally I don't start stuff with people unless they do, but I do have my moments lol.

I agree it's hard to get people to cooperate, usually I'd say find a group of friends to play with IRL or online or join a clan, that way you'll fit in with a group that wants to work together.

You have to take in consideration that many people do not wear there headphones due to the childish behavior that can be found on live. Either they do not have them on or they mute everyone. However, I do agree that teamwork is key and therefore communication is imperative whilst engaging in team based games.

Pretty much right on, I plug in my headset so it doesn't play through my tv and I never wear it. If I wear it it's always just 2 friends talking about their lives/high school etc...and I could care less. If there was some strategy talk going on than sure, but there never is.

It's not impossible to find a group of people who can work together in a match. In Halo, try partying up with a group you work well with. If the winning continues, send out some friend requests. I hooked up with some guys in the Canadian Army and they were really good about calling out locations of enemies. We owned everyone because communicated with each other. Now we play whenever we see each other online.

Play a gametype that allows team killing. Thus if they are a-holes, return the favor by ripping them a new one.

that is frustrating, especially when you play tf2 for orange box...its a team based game and the only way to win is communicate

trash talking can be fun, but only after the match is done

With CoD is depends on what type of MP you're playing. With Team Deathmatch I completely agree with you -- there's almost no time before you can either come up with a strategy or help your fellow teammates. With MP types like Headquarters, Domination and the Hardcore types, I found that there are a lot more people willing to use strategy and communicate to win the match. With Team Deathmatch, I found that each person is his/her own individual team (with the exception of when you play with friends -- although I find myself losing more since I care more about having fun than winning).

I don't buy the "trash talking is strategy" argument, since in most games the only time you can trash talk is in the lobby before the match starts. More often than not, I hear excessive trash talking between teammates and it only hurts the team because the team is the only group that loses focus.

Well, i HAVE played in games where we actually communicate and work out strategies to win, but, the number of games like that seem to be decreasing.

People are ignorant and have the bravery to say things like this. Because they know they will probably never meet or know the person they are trash talking to IRL.

For instance, I was playing CoD4 and I was casually talking to my friend about how his GCSEs were going etc. And some random guy says "Shut The F*** Up!"

I simply replied to him as I do with all people who give this attitude, "I think there is a mute button somewhere, perhaps you could use it instead of sitting their idly on your buttocks, trash talking to me!"

However you can find decent people to talk too on XBL. But the majority of them are screaming 12 year olds with annoyingly high voices...

I may only be 13-14 years of age but I can fully understand why the GS and XBL community wants these damn trash talkers out of here so we can all just enjoy the damn game!

How's that not much of a strategy. If it works it's one of the best there is. The player will start making stupid decisions and make it easier for you to win.

I used to get upset about people without mics or people with mics who didn't talk during team play, but as you stated and as I have come to find out, a lot of those people intentionally mute everyone because they are tired of the constant derogitory comments they hear all day long and just want to have fun playing a game. There are people in my clan (casual not hardcore) who have everyone except people on their friends list muted so they don't have to hear the garbage from the other team.

It's very annoying. A lot of the time I'm talking to myself in Gears until I realise I'm the only one on my team that has a mic..... and when I mutter something about the other people on my team being cheap I usually hear about 2/3 of them answer back.

Yep that's the very reason that I just mute everyone. Plus I seem to concentrate better on the game without hearing Aholes babbling and spewing garbage from their mouths.

one of the best ways is to try and comunicate, if people don't respond just keep doing it, if they talk trash or are a-holes mute them, if they comunicate back using stratgergy send them a message and see if they wanna party up.

I dunno, usually when I play a game like Halo3, a bunch of prepubescent virgins rather talk about my tag (THE MEAN WALRUS), than speak in a socially acceptable way that many people could enjoy conversing with them. Instead, for their effort to try and irritate people, they just get more smack talk to get 'em to shut their little mouths.

I hate when people are trahtalkin, because it juss makes them look weak, unless its someone from ur own team then its ok but still too much of it is juss meaningless. I was playin gears and have never played any rank match befo and i got on one and i juss got killed and then it was loading and it loaded back to the menu sayin sumthin about my connection. The guys i was playin with messaged me how stupid i am, using the f word in every sentence and saying that im juss like weak or a the P word. But i sent everone of them a messege back cusring at them and telling them i had a freakin reason. that is why i kep my mic off until i wanan say sumthin.
