Why can't the downloadable content not be released on discs aswell like normal add-ons? We don't use Xbox Live and cant download any added content, so there is alot we are missing out on ie. Dragon Age, Mass Effect ect.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
My guess is that it's for cost reasons. Some developers can shell out the cash to put them on discs, some can't, and some probably don't really care.

Sometimes the DLC is released on "Game of the Year" editions - like Oblivion and Dragon Age.
The primary reason they don't release DLC is to make money off of used game sales.
Easy fix- if you want dlc, take an xbox formatted flashdrive to a friends house with your profile on it and download it there. Take it home and move your profile and the DlC back onto your hdd. (I haven't done this myself, but I don't see how it wouldn't work.)El_Zo1212o
It wouldn't work. When you download DLC, though it downloads to the memory unit, it also locks it onto that console. Unless you're connected while playing, it won't let you play the DLC on another console that isn't connected to live.
Some dlc is on discs. Fallout 3, GTA 4, etc.orb_03_2006Add to that, Red Dead Redemption which is set to release all its DLC on disc at the end of November.

good call man, there is a way or two around that but it involves things of questionable legality that tend to void warrentys break terms of use and are generaly not legal in nature.

Content is not only tied to the console it is downloaded to, but also the gamer profile that purchased the content. Otherwise, everyone would be buying the content once and copying it to as many people as they wanted for free. Nope, that doesn't work.yeah its linked to gamer profile when signed into xbl so if its downloaded on another console you have to have it connected to live, you could always just take your console to your friends house though and download it on your console, for the longest time my lil bro did same thing. came to my house to update xbox and update original xbox games so he could play them, but that was years ago back in the blade dashboard times lol, weve come so far haha.
It's 2010. How about getting an internet connection? :)

I do have an internet connection - how do you think I'm connecting to Gamespot?!
Problem is I'm in SA and last we heard SA did not support Xbox live, or there was some or other problem. This was a while back, dont know if somethings changed in the mean time. And if I was able to connect I'm worried about the cost....currency exchange to Rand is almost x8 fromUSD and about x11 from GBP.
And you dont get all the 'lekke' goodies here, we had to import Oblivian goty from the UK, no-one local in the whole ofSAhad it in stock or was willing or able to import for us. Where entertainment and hobbies are concerned SA is really behind.

Even if it came out on disc, if SA doesn't even get DLC I doubt it'd get a shipment. It seems like it's the type of place where you have to be prepared to buy import systems or miss out. Please Log In to post.
