Girls and explosions... I hardly see any of that. I play the GTAs for the storyline. I like crime movies and GTA is like playing through one. Each chapter in the Grand Theft series is equally great.
Any game that gets a 9.0 or higher is going to have a bunch of the "_________ is overrated" threads. So I just wanted to put why I like the series and leave it at that.
I'm one of the few that thinks the GTA 4 was BETTER than SA because it was more realistic. I loved it, and think it deserved the good review scores it got.k

I stayed away from the hype, and enjoyed it thoroughly. It all depends on how you felt going into the game, IMO.
i loved GTA4 and so did many other people did it deserve a perfect 10 no because its not perfect no game is but its still deserves 9 or 9.5 it truely is an amazing game.
i liked gta 4...its not the most over rated game ever..it is probably the most over hyped game ever.. we will hear the same thing about Modern Warfare 2 for the next year or more after it comes out..and the saga continues lol
Didn't read it. :P But, I found the game to be fun, the lack of extras was pretty disappointing but it had a good story and the engine was great, I do have high hopes for the next game for this is just a building block for whats to come.
I love GTAIV and it's probably one of my favorite games ever. It's hilarious how a lack of a tank and plane makes this game unplayable trash. Controls are much smoother, better graphics (which seems to be all people care about these days), better story, better characters.
I've played and beaten GTAIV numerous times, probably four times already. I've easily put 100 hours into the single player.
Overrated? GTA 4 is a well made sandbox game with a great story. See a lot of people went into this game thinking it was San Andreas or Vice City. Just drive around, do nothing, and kill people. They hear you need to entertain friends and go on dates, it's like well I'm just looking for a game to play and that's just stupid. I thought it was kinda cool to go on dates and go play darts. It puts a new spin on the game. If they would have made ANOTHER typical GTA game nobody would have liked it. I think they did a hell of a job with GTA 4. Couldn't have asked for a better game.
The only reason people don't think it's "fun enough" is because of this whole overrated thing. If nobody complained about it being overrated it would seem a lot more fun.
lets all hate on a popular game, cuz its cool. anyway, the game was fun. people are just whining cuz it was a more serious game than the other GTAs, deal with it.

San Andre did offer quite a big difference in landscapes and riding bikes and stuff like that. And character customization. Other than that, the game superb~
The reason I think it's overrated is because I think people just buy it for the girls and explosions. I would never play it.

And no, I don't think GTA IV is overrated. A fantastic, immersive single player mode accompanied by some great, addictive XBOX Live multiplayer modes.
I think it's one of the best games to ever hit a console, regardless of what some elitist blogger says.
I will have to agree. GTA IV's narrative was one of the best in the industry. I was quite taken by the immersive cityscape and loved every minute of playing. The multiplayer definitely needs some refining, but overall GTA IV was an amazing game. The only problem it had was lack of content.
just awesome graphics for a BIG world game, online multiplayer, fun mini games, great story line, long lasting side missions, sounds like a bad game if you ask me. (you see the sarcasm there?)
The reason why it got so many perfect scores was because it was reviewed by people who played grant theft auto series alot in the past, not just san andreas. Personally i didn't like SA, gta4 was better IMO, but people who say it was overreated were the ones who only played SA for 30 minutes while it was still fun.
Yeah I think it's overrated too. I don't think it's so great... COD2 is in my opinion overrated too. There's nothing spectacular about it. Average campaign with no story + decent multiplayer. COD4 on the other hand absolutely deserves all the praise!!! :) After COD4, I think COD1 is the best!
hey it's not right... i don't think that GTA-4 gets most over ranked.. i think it's deserve for this, i get full enjoyment from this game, moving from one city to another with wat ever u like car... there is a good atmosphere, good cars as well as good girls..
I hate to break it to you but just because you think a game is overrated and that its worse then san andreas and blah blah doesnt mean it really is... The majority think it is a great game. There fore it is not overrated, its just hated on by a SMALL percentage of people.
I think the whole game is great. I didn't complain about one thing when I played GTA 4 for the first time. It had a good story to it, the map was ridiculous, it was endless fun ( and still is IMO ), a lot of cars, awesome missions, great multiplayer ( which a lot of people are still playing till this day ), an awesome DLC that was a lot of fun to play, and another DLC coming out next month ( that probably will be better then the last DLC ). Yes I totally agree this is one overrated video game.
Me and my friend still have fun messing around in the city. If only there was more you could do in Co-op, the game would have been perfect. More weapons would be sweet too. Give GTA RPG elements (they dabbled in it with SA), some weapon upgrades maybe even gold weapons for collecting everything. I think Saints Row 1-2 were extremely underrated. Those were great too. Great co-op, parachuting from a helicopter which never, ever gets old.
I don't see how it took a step back from SA. Improved in pretty much every category but I too find it way overrated since it has about a 97% or so average rating or so. Definatly wasn't that good to get that kind of praise.
