Garbage.
That was painful to read and most of your points are just wrong. Did i hear you say that Halo 2 weapons were balanced?!
Not reading that.
But how can it be "underrated"? It gets almost perfect reviews from every magazine, website etc...... So, when most people say they don't like it, that's making Halo underrated? How so? I don't see how a persons opinion can underrate a game.
EDIT: Wow, if a massive paragraph wasn't bad enough... I just realised that you didn't use one period
well, i would be led to think half life laid the foundations for halo, so if anything its a natural progression.
halo, im fine with. its numbers 2 and 3 that are very overrated. no way are they underrated.
Not reading that....
But it is underrated. I've heard people say that it sucks.... I mean Halo fans too.
I stopped when you said "Halo's story is complicated." Halo's story is as paper thin as it gets. If you want a real story,go play Half-Life.
Halo may have brought in things like 2 weapons and dual weilding, but those are pretty small setails. Half-Life set the bar for first person story telling, and cinematic plot sequences. Bungie, and other developers have even confessed to taking ideas from the original Half-Life.
halo had nothing to do with half like. bunige made their own fps a long time ago.

considering your argument was that haloset the pace for ALL shooters after it. well, you contradicted yourself. it doesnt matter that theyre not made by the same company - games affect games. therefore, you just said halo can affect other games but other games CANT affect halo? hmmmm
secondly, half life was made before halo so therefore it would have influenced it, not vice versa

Don't worry, I've seen this guy post on other Halo and Halo bashing threads, just calling whoever disapproved of Halo names. I doubt he'd even know what "contradict" means.
and marathon was made before that. i was talkin about the xbox and the xbox 360 games the halo influenced. that should be obvious. haven79
Marathon didn't influence sh*t. I've been gaming for a long time, and I had never heard of Marathon until a couple of months ago in a magazine.
What good shooters did Halo influence? The 3 best shooters to come out this year were Bioshock,The Orange Box and Call of Duty 4. All of them are completely different, and alot better than Halo 3.

haha thanks for the heads up. i think i otherwise would have kept going.
There is no doubt that Halo was overly responsible for bringing the shooter genre to consoles (but I think Goldeneye and Perfect Dark had a much higher impact). However there is no denying the fact that Halo itself is a very Mediocre Shooter when compared to FPS gaming history when the PC has a history that goes back into the 80's.
Important to Console History - Yes
Important to FPS overall - No
ya truly i just think it should have more respect dkdk999
More respect? How?
It sold more in its' first day of release compared to any other game. It has won multiple game awards. Like I said earlier, it gets perfect and near-perfect reviews from almost every reviewing magazine, website etc. and you're saying it deserves more respect?
The only people saying that they don't like Halo are the community, the gamers. I think you need to respect their opinions.

Wow why should I show respect for a game I don't like? I show respect to games that have made notable contributions to gaming, and with Halo,I see none.

It has to be important to FPS overall. It revolutionized shooters on consoles, introduced a brand new health system to shooters in general, and revolutionized multiplayer gameplay. You say Goldeneye and perfect dark had more of an impact? I beg to disagree. I have never seen any privately practiced LAN parties ever before halo. PC points are void in refution to this. Point made. 'Mediocre shooter' ? I think not. Halo was the first game to utilize visceral immersion in a game. Halo was the first game I have played that actually made me forget that I was playing a videogame and made me think I was really a genetically engineered cyborg destined to save the universe, and it blew my mind while doing so. Half-life? not so much. Goldeneye? Not so much. Perfect Dark? not so much. Your entry = COMPLETELY REFUTED. And for the record: Halo 3 was the BIGGEST ENTERTAINMENT RELEASE IN WORLD HISTORY. Before the release date, Halo 3 sold more copies that most major motion pictures do in 3 days! HALO 3 MADE MORE MONEY IN ONE HOUR THAN SPIDERMAN 3 DID IN 72 HOURS. HOWS THAT FOR A COMPARISON.

Wait so you been in gaming for along time and never heard of marathon. Hmm and so thats like 12 years you've had your head shoved up your ass! Marathon was the first FPS with a complete physic engine, the first FPS with duel weilding and it expanded online gaming to what it is today. So you may have been playing games for a long time but you dont know what your talking about because without marathon games like Half-life and bioshock would not be what they are today.[QUOTE="Hitchy9"][QUOTE="dkdk999"]ya truly i just think it should have more respect stephant_6

Wow I can now call you a complete idiot. Halo made video games popular, before halo video games were for the nerds who didnt know how to interact in real life so they used a simulation. You are really stupid and you know nothing of the history of gaming.I love when guys bashing a game cant think of anything to say they use the "look at the loser fanboys". When the fact is the real losers are the people who have nothing better to do than bash a game and not know what they are talking about while doing it. So if your not contributing to ethier side of this arggument dont post because its stupid.man its like fanboys out the ass in here lmao

Oh yeah the story in halo was good in the original and decent in halo 2 but in halo 3 it didn't wrap up any loose ends but rather left some loose ends. WTF is that, this is the end of a trilogy , you are supposed to answer all questions in a creative way not leave people wondering wats going to happen next. What if Tolkien nevr told us what happened to the ring in Return of the king, thats the only good trilogy i can think of right now but i want everyone to know i am not bashing halo but providing constructive criticismDHHDHIsnt that what good story telling supposed to do? leave you wondering what if. People have lost site of what good story insted they are to caught with the stuff that is filled with sex and overly intense action. last time I checked that crap dosnt do anything for a story it only makes it easy for you to follow. And im not bashing you im just saying my opinion

dont you guys hate it when PC people come over and bash Halo with their condescending comments. Honestly i do not give a rats ass for PC gaming and its history. The fact of the matter is that Halo was a solid FPS with great graphics, good story and intense gameplay. It introduced the weapon management system enbling players to think strategically on what weapons to carry. Before this, all pc games did was give you a crapload of random weapons with no strategy involved. Now a lot of FPS have adopted this form of weapon system. and tell me, other than Half Life what is another awesome FPS on PCthat revolutionized gaming?
