Well, people want to get a taste of Halo 3. Plus with this they don't have to go through the DLC verification process(which is the same reason the Forza 2 demo came out so late). Also you can brag that you played Halo 3.

As for why people are hyping it, they're justifying spending $60 on a game to play the beta and of course ecause it's halo and halo is the most sacred franchise ever created *sarcasm* I'll also be waiting for the final game and I actually made a thread for those of us who won't be in the beta.

well first of all its halo..so you can pretty much expect the hype from that game and overall people are just happy to finally play it..i mean how can you not be happy to try out one of the best video game series early?

 I have to disagree with you completely! I did buy Crackdown to be part of the Beta but it turned out to be one of the funnest games i've ever played. The online Co-Op is what did it for me.
It gives you an idea of what to expect from the final product. People love Halo, it's a pretty damn good franchise and have been waiting for some time for the new one to hit. Think of it as a demo......only broken ;):P
I agree with the original poster, kind of. I chose not to buy Crackdown, because I wasn't interested in the game, but even if I did, I don't think I'd play a lot of the BETA. ...sure, I'd try it out, but I imagine I'd treat it like a demo. -- see how things work, and then move on with regular games until the regular release.
i've never played a beta before, nor do i ever wish to apart from halo 3 next week. even if it's only half finished it will still be better than any other game on xbl.
im not hyped bout halo 3....halo games were good n everything there fun but im not one of those halo fanboys i actually see it for wha it is a good game but thas it i actually think there are better series out there tho i am participatin in the beta 2 test it 2 see if im gonnna buy it wen it comes out...i wont spend 2 much time playin it cuz imma be playin Gears Of War alot but imma play it every now n den..if turns out 2 be a more fun game then ill play it more..it has 2 be better then halo 2 cuz i didnt really get into that one

That's the thing, If this "beta" actually stayed true to the definition of the term that would be one thing. But the truth iis that tIhey're putting it out to create hype for the game and make money off all of the copies of crackdown that were solod because of it. If it were a true beta it would have tons of bugs and the graohics wouldn't be finished and it wouldn't look like a finished game to the point where not a lot of people would want to try it except for the most dedicated Halo fans. This is the impression I got when I first heard about it so I didn't feel like participating. Of course it turns out that's this a near final build of the game and probably will feel more like a demo that's nice and polished. I'd feel better if they (1.) changed the name and stopped referring to it as a beta because it isn't a beta, and (2.) hadn't made it so ANYONE who bought crackdown could get in since most real betas have selection processes that applicants have to go through before getting in. Â
First, I like Crackdown. Mindless run and gun action? Yes. Is that such a bad thing? Not at all. Second, why are all the Halo haters ticked off that other people actually like the games? We enjoy Halo, get used to it and shut up.
