I have been an aficianado of the Halo series since release of Xbox 1. I've read the books and enjoyed the solo-play, as well as spending hours cursing and loving Halo 3 Live play at the same time. I played Call of Duty 4 and loved it. The detail and world it absorbs you into is excellent, and the XP system was an excellent change from the intense ranking system in Halo 3. I played Bioshock and experienced the wonders and horrors of Rapture, and the splendor of such a creative FPS/Rpg. But I can't help being absolutly in love with...

---Rainbow Six Two: VEGAS---

MANY people would tell me I'm crazy saying that R6V2 is a more fun game than the visually stunning Halo 3 and CoD4, but it's not about speedy fights, good graphics, or putting camo on my guns, it's seeing a strategy succeed and doing more than the typical Run N' Gun playstyle in the others games.

-The cover system and fragile players create a much more serious and tactical battlefield.

-Plenty of weapon and customizable characters (along with a combat log which is noticed, unlike CoD4) let you create a character that can become quickly infamous as other eliminated players watch you skillfully massacre the enemy team.

-A tried and true, solid gameplay that keeps you involved from beginning to end. As the battle unfolds and you die you realize the defense, or offense, the enemy team has put together and move as a team, or as a lonewolf to take them out from their blind spots.

- No auto lock or surplus HP to let noobs get by. A hard learning curve. A rewarding feeling once you master the game...The hardcore FPS environment adds to the intensity of the fights. Try to run across the map and score some quicky kills against a skilled team. You will be seeing a red screen with no idea where you were shot from before you can say "OH ****

- [[[VERY important]]] I played Rainbow Six 1 only briefly, R6V2 was still refreshing to me, not dull or played-out.

- Probably most importanly entering a room full of a trash talking clan speaking of how they're going to MERC your ass and following that up with a dominating game and quick elimination with minimal help from your team, and hearing the most rewardiung lobby sound in the world...SILENCE. =)

---Among these reasons there are many many more, but these are just a few. I wanted to post a well formed post about why I like R6V2 rather than the typical "R6V2 owns"..."No cod4 iz bettr"..."no lolz halo 3 is lyke tha bomb nubs".

I'm a sucker for tactical shooters, especially those leaning toward CQB. In that respect, Vegas 2 is top notch on the consoles.

Halo 3 and CoD4 are excellent for what they are at their core: run-n-gun shooters.

But as I said, I love tactical shooters. The XP allocation to the three categories bases on your style of play was inspired. The weapons you unlock would actually be relevant to you. At the same time, ACES rewards you for trying the other styles of play.

Character customization is great... from the ability to put your own face on your character to the different types of armor with their own levels of protection and encumbrance.

Pace is quick, but the instant kills and cover system make the gameplay very deliberate.

Right now, it's my fave shooter on the 360.

I enjoy the Vegas2 online way more then Halo3 or COD4. I own all the games, but i just love the realistic/tactical game play of Vegas2. Its not a game you can be great at right off the bat, you have to give it a few days and also play with a few good teammates. Its alot harder to get into this game then the first Vegas, but i enjoy Vegas2 WAAAY more then the 1st.

Its the most underrated online shooter on the 360 right now IMO, so your not the only one man

Watch out guys...we're starting to make a well-educated and reasonable thread ON THE INTERNET. I didn't think this could happen without some person coming in bashing you with baseless arguements.

Someone will come in very soon bashing us, just wait... :P

Its funny though, because most people on my friends list who dont like Vegas2, only tried 2 games of it online (one ranked deathmatch and one ranked attack and defend. Going 0-2 both times, and then selling the game right away

Talk about not giving the game much of a chance. This game took me a good few days and around 50 games to get use to it and start to kick some butt.

I know alot of people have given it a good go and just dont like it because they dont prefer the realistic shooters, and thats perfectly ok, but at least give a game more then 2 games online to make an opinion about it

Very true kozzy. I hope that people can come to see that overcoming a challenging game is more rewarding than grinding out mindless easy-mode games with meaningless kills. I got my ass KICKED in terrorist hunt when I bought the game, I laughed, and enjoyed learning the tricks of the game, and am confident in my abilities now. Once again...I love R6V2.

P.S. Chicks dig my FAMAS

So does the body armour make a differents in the story mode and multiplayer....or is it just for show?? It doesn't really matter though because after playing Halo 3, COD4 and Gears, I'm really looking for a challenging shooter.

I totally agree with all the comments here!

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is a fantastic game and one of the best experiences you can have on Xbox Live. Terrorist Hunt has to be the ultimate tactical shooting in a game.

This game has the BEST cover system of any game so much so GTA V copied it. Forget MySpace or Facebook playing on LIVE with your mates on Terrorist Hunt is the best social networking and team building you can get!

Remember it takes no skill to RUN and GUN -Halo/COD4 i'm looking at you - Cover, Plan and Execute = True Skill.

It really does make a difference man, you can load on the armour so you have tons of protection or you can do as the person above said, and take it all off so you character is faster and runs more quickly. It really is great how much difference the differnt peices of armor make. Also i LOVE how you have all these differnt camos to put on your character. I find myself always changing the colour each match hehe.

On Team Deathmatch i usually make sure to have near full armor, but on Total Conquest i usually take most of it off, so i can run to the bases and take them over quickly :)

Yes, I think so. The gear you equip changes your protection/mobility rate. There's a new feature also: Dashing. You can sprint somewhat like in GoW with a duration but I think more armor you equip, the less duration for it...I haven't observed the difference closely yet since theres no dash gauge and I prefer to wear the heavy armor types coz it looked better. But the time I tried to wear 0 armor I think it took me 1-2 shots (body) to kill me....at least in story mode. We'll have to check that out first :D

I play alot more CoD4 than R6V2 but that is only because my friends play CoD4 and I enjoy playing with people I actually know. But every time I go on R6V2 I have a good time. I am a pretty big noob when it come to R6V2 so I mostly stick to terrorist hunts set on realistic. The game is awesome and is definitely under rated.

This is exactly what I wanted, the exposure of the positive view on R6V2 since alot of people on these forums really tear it down and keep it from being recognized. Definately an underrated game.

Fantastic game I thinks is the best game i've played on 360 (and yes I've played oblivion, halo 3, bioshock, mass effect, cod4, assassin's creed, GTA IV wich allof them were good games) but vegas 2 grew in me like no other game, I own vegas one and i didn't play that much because people only played casino calypso and streets, but vegas 2 was a fresh start for me, it doesn't bore me, every game is a new challenge, and then there is the fact that I used to play 1 but the first time I went live on 2 they kicked my mexican ass, like in 13 matches until I understood the pace and the way this game is meant to be, maybe its not a graphical power house, but it does well, and I love the fact that there is a weapon for any kind of player

For the guy who was asking about the armor, yes, it is a big tactical part know what to wear, if you use a heavy armor you,ll be encumbered, and if you sprint you wil not sprint and much nor fast as if ou have light armor, for those of you gus who doesnt know, if you take out your handgun you can sprint faster

closing comments, i love vegas 2 and is a game that i will be playing until farcry 2 hits shelves, then i will play both hahaha

R6V2 is sweet but i reckon they could have improved more over the first one but the improvmeents are good and its a more enjoyable game to play, theres a lot to do in it actually

single player story

split screen story

co-op online story

and like 16 maps?

terrorist hunt offline as well as split an donline on these 16 maps

and online with 2 players as well? and by yourself with 16 maps and a fair few game modes

so it has many options i have always found R6V series to have more games that are laggy for some reason but its still gr8 and the graphics are still pretty good.

I loved Vegas 1 and got 2 on release...

Wasn't overly impressed to be honest.

People found that glitch on how to basically get max rank in single player with a glitched respawn, (not really a big deal)

Maps IMO were less fun than R61 maps, although Thunt I find more enjoyable.

I might give it another run in a bit, but all in all I found it an expansion pack improvement over the original.

Don't get me wrong though - that doesn't diminish the fact that its basically the only (close to) tactical shooter on X360. I say close to because i've played Rainbow since the beginning on PC, which was WAY, WAY more difficult.

Just because someone enjoys another game besides your fav game, doesnt mean he only likes it because he sucks at COD4, thats ridicolous. I have had COD4 since it came out and its a decent game, but i like Vegas2 alot moreonline.

Its not because im better at Vegas2 or because I suck at COD4, its because i like the erxperience more. Plus, COD4 is so easy that you can go months without playing and all of a sudden come back and whoop everyones butt, its not a hard game to get good at, while Vegas 2 takes alot of practise and team work.

Hell, i am probably the worst FORZA2 player in the world, but do i let that ruin the game for me? Because im getting pwned by people online in races? HELL NO. How good I am at a game, HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW MUCH I LIKE THE GAME.

Its very rude of you to come in this thread and talk rubbish about the thread starter just because he enjoys Vegas 2 > COD4. Some people like ACTION/ARCADE Shooters, while others enjoy REALISTIC SHOOTERS. And hey... some like myself even enjoy both!

sounds like the TC has only found a game that he is good and not an actual good quality game. the TC decided it's his favorite off of winning in rbsv2 after getting owned in cod4JoetheMoe

I thought for a second that when I said I enjoyed CoD4 and when I ended my post with "respect for all gamers **even if r6v2 isn't your bag" that I would avoid random kids entering this thread and bashing R6, but I guess I was wrong.

Once more, you're entitled to your opinion. I can't help that you feel the need to justify the game you play by insulting other people.

Hey whatever makes you happy. Personally I didn't like getting killed by marksman enemies with telescopic x-ray vision, and who spawn in and rush at you every ten steps.

The latest update for Vegas2 fixed the spawn camping thankfully. That kind of pissed me off when the game first came out, with the spawn camping and what not, but since the update its been perfect imo. They now have it so you respawn in differnt spots each time, where as before you would spawn in the same spot over and over.

I wasn't talking about the multiplayer.

hehe beating the AI on realistic with full density alone is truly a feat to be admired. Getting owned by terrorists for the win.

Is it even possible to suck at CoD4? Biggest noob game in the world.

Even if you dont like R6V2 you gotta hand it to the TC for being able to h:Pave that much explanation about how its a good game. Not just being like ur a idiot if u dont like this game. So for that i give u a standing ovation. (I seriously stood up):P

I'm glad to see that I am not the only person who thinks vegas 2 is a great game. People are too quick to judge it. If you play the campaign, it takes a couple levels to get into it. And online it takes a couple matches until you can get somewhat decent at it then it get addicting. My friend judged it right away off the first level too and it annoys me people dont see what a great game it is. You found the words I was looking for to describe why I love this game. It annoys me how people are so narrowminded to call of duty. My friends list is basically call of duty call of duty call of duty occasionaly halo 3 call of duty. There are more games than call of duty. Anyway Vegas 2 is def IMO one of the best shooters on the 360.

O and its nice to see a reasonable topic with actually reason instead of OMGZ Call of duty totly rockzzzzzzz vegas 2 iz nos good you nubs
