I did this once but I really don't see the need to because it still requires you put the cd in. Is there some kind of added bonus functionality to it?

cos you don't get the racket of the dvd running when playing your installed game, meaning your 360 sounds less like a bag of spanners!

Probrably means the console runs cooler too,cos dvd isn't running

As sizzling said, quieter and cooler. I also find that there is a marginal difference in load times for some games.

I like to do it because it's not constantly wearing down my DVD drive. I agree with the other points, too.

My copy of Forza Motorsport was pretty scratched and some of the tracks wouldn't load properly. I installed to my hard drive and now it works perfectly.

Quicker loading times, the 360 runs much quieter and it puts less strain on the disc drive. So it's worth doing.

It makes it not sound like a 747 taking off, and it prevents your xbox from overheating (which can save you 300 bucks down the road)

The only game that they warn you not to install on your HDD is Halo 3 because it actually makes load times longer. Don't believe me? Want an explanation of why? Here's a link.

Well considering I only have a 20 gb hard drive... yes i am old school but at least i have a 360, I dont really think its worth it because I can only install one game at a time :\ I do see the benifit of protecting the cd, the less use of the cd the less chance it has to get scrached. but i just dont have the disk drive for it atm

I got an arcade instead of a Pro (60GB) because I didn't see the need for a HDD. Then I got home, set up the xbox and put in BioShock and WOW! Noisiest dam thing ever! Have to have the sound system up fully loud to drown out the noise, darn DVD drive spins up a storm. Seriously kills the suspense walking through dark abandoned corridors with the occasional shriek in the background from a crazy diseased zombie person when I have a 747 taking off 10 feet away from me. Not to mention the "click, clickedy, click, click" of the laser jumping around. So yeah I'm definately going to get a HDD for my 360 soon, shouldv'e just bought a Pro console in the first place, oh well.

You'll be OK-Get that hard drive and your Arcade will be as good as any other 360 Version.

It helps the games run smoother. I had a glitch in Fable II that only installing it could fix it, runs perfect ever since. I also installed RES5 and load times are faster.

Some games load marginally faster. This can add up, though, if it's a game that has a lot of loading screens, like Oblivion.

well first off less wear and tear so your games wont get scratched because the games wont be spinning like crazy. It also reduces heat that the 360 builds rather quickly. Lastly it improves most games load times and even some gameplay for example fable 2 is alot better when its installed on the hardrive.

It sometimes runs alot faster, the 360 is alot quieter, and it won't freeze as often as it did before.

it supposedly helps keep your discs from burning out but other then that it does almost nothing for you and most developers suggest you not do it

Do any of you know if installing Left 4 Dead to the HD noticeably cuts down loading times, or should I not bother?
