Why is Braid a 9.5?

Okay, I have 22 XBLA games on my 360. I went to my buddy's house, and he has Braid. I played Braid. I did not like Braid. It was boring, repetitive, confusing, and annoying in my opinion. I have no idea what the hype around it is for. I love that type of game, so it isn't because it isn't my cup of tea, it was just unenjoyable. Can someone give me some reasons why gamespot gave it a 9.5?

I didn't like it much, been there done that, kind of like a mario game , but my nephew loved it.

I know it's good it's just not for me, and I don't see a problem with it getting a 9.5

It pays homage to mario games but if you sit down and give it some time youll find its really different and innovative but thatsa just me.

i agree with tc, braid is pretty overrated. puzzle platformers arent a new thing (klonoa anyone?) and the only remarkable thing about braid is its art style and soundtrack.Xeros606

You have to play more than the trial to get a sense of what this game about and just because its a puzzle platformer doesnt mean its not remarkable. Shooters have been around for a long time and people think bioshock is remarkable.

I love when people say this... the mario stuff is paying homage to mario. The gameplay is literally 0 to do with mario. It's a puzzle game... not a standard platformer.

The game is brilliant, the level design is genius.

well said. The game isn't for everyone. If you were one of the people who loved Portal not just for the dialog and really cool story, but because of the mind bending puzzles then you will enjoy braid.

i played it and i agree with TC and its not worth the 1.200points they are asking either it should of been 800 max.TX360

i really doesn't deserve a 9.5. The game is pretty short, the puzzels are not very difficult, and there is ZERO replay. I beat it in 4 hrs, and i have all the achievements except for the "timerun" one, which i could care less about. Don't get me wrong, though. Its a decent game, but the $10 price tag and the 9.5 review really don't make sense.callen3

Why is it sad? my gamer tag is CLiq if you want to see my achievements. I didn't even play the demo, and i breezed through the game. There was only a hand full of puzzel pieces I had difficulity with, and my problems stemed from the lack of infomation provided in the game. For example, I didn't know an enemy can bounce off my shadow. That's really the biggest problem with the game - the game is only 'hard' because they don't give you enough info.callen3

I thought the 1200 points was a little pricey, bought it anyway and I was impressed.

Great game design, well thought out and the artistic elements are fantastic. It's not like any other puzzle game or platformer I've ever played and it was a joy to play. I wish more games had the originality and thought that went into Braid.

ugh wheres my excedrine, I suck at putting together puzzles that are 7 peices big ugh id rather hit stuff in GTA4, depth is too big a word for me ugh more excedrine
