I havent played the xbox in years because mine broke, but I have the one for PC and its way more fun than Halo 3, coagulation 8 vs 8 CTF is the funnest gametype youll ever play in your entire LIFE! even on headlong, containment, waterworks, HALO 2 WAS FOR THE GENERALS OF BIG TEAM BATTLE, LONG LIVE BIG TEAM BATTLE..... LONG LIVE BIG TEAM BATTLE.......... LONG LIVE BIG TEAM BATTLE! dont tell me valhala is the new blood gultch because its NOT, have you ever had a color theory class kid? colors bring out emotions, do you even know what composite colors are?
Halo 2 is the best Halo game ever. ODST came close, but Halo 2 deliver everything new, like new weapons, new Characters (like Arbiter), Hijack vehicles, get Skulls, and the most of all, Xbox live (Multiplayer). Halo 2 did something special doing its time (Since it came out in 2004). I think all Halo games are awesome, but Halo 2 deliver everything new. Halo 3 is just Halo 2 with Upgrades, and of course, new Gametypes and Features (Which there awesome anyways). Either way, Halo 2 was the funnest, but every single Halo game is awesome and Bungie gets the job done.

I need to get around to reading the books. I feel as though I'm missing out quite a bit.
I wouldn't go so far as to say that Halo 3 was stale, but it just wasn't the improvement needed for the franchise so instead it felt rehashed. Bungie could potentially do a lot with Halo: Reach and I'm crossing my fingers Bungie delivers a new and exciting experience.
halo 2 owns all the way... halo 3 owns to but not has much as 2. in my opinion half the maps on 3 is not that great compared to 2. dual weapons in halo 2 was useful and fun now in 3 they far less useful and fun. So many more flaws in my opinion that just makes the game play B.S and require less skill

They had Lockout (As Blackout), but it didn't turn out good so that was a disappointment of a Remake. Now good old Terminal, the good old Train that I use to wreck my Wraith with, good times, good times.
Yeah I agree that Halo 2 had the better maps. I didnt mind the story in Halo 3 though. Halo 2 was awesome up until you had to deal with the flood levels. Those were just annoying.

I actually like both a lot. I like Halo 3's balance so much more than Halo 2's though. But still, I really did enjoy the online modes for both Halo 2 and 3. Two of the best online games I've played man. Good stuff.

each series had great features and brought something new. I dont like to single out one series as being totaly better but Halo 2 did have the best maps overall.
Halo 3 just needs more quality maps. I miss Relic and beaver creek....heck I miss every Halo 2 map.

Why isn't COD competitive?? The most intense clan matches I've ever been in were in COD4, followed by R6 vegas and Battlefield MC.
I think the people who say Halo 2 was "sooooo much better" are just nostalgic about their time with the game. Halo 2 was a great multiplayer game during that time. But it is by no means far superior to Halo 3.

I've narrowed it down to a few key things Level design. Halo 2's maps were amazing. So many good memories on Headlong, Coagulation, Lockout, Midship, Ivory Tower, etc. New gameplay additions such as hijacking, dual wielding, locking on with rockets, vehicle damage, etc. First time Halo went online with multiplayer. I think if Halo 3 had better level design it would of been a much more fun experience.
Indeed, Halo 2 was the game that made me a fan of the franchise, everything was new the graphics, the weapons, etc... and it also felt more challenging, like if Master Chief was actually human, not the super soldier of Halo 3 (Though I still love Halo 3) XD Hope they use the same strategy for Halo: Reach rebuild everything from the ground up.

so long as Bungie exists, they will always be developing new Halo games. it's too profitable for them. they can't give up the cash flow.
Halo 2 was a big disappointment for me. In fact, I think it's the worst Halo from the entire series. The multiplayer took a HUGE step backwards. People can mention LIVE, but there were tons of free servers that would let people play Halo 1 or Halo 2 over the internet for free...
Better weapons, also better maps. Some of the best maps have been remade which is nice, but id still like to see some modifications to halo 3's weapon arsenal. Trade them in for the ODST variation imo.

Agreed I can' t believe after four frikcin games Bungie hasn' t bothered to put a fricking sprint button. Also Halo 3 really dumbed down things from Halo 2, the shotgun was dumbed down, the pistols was dumbed down, I had to pay money for maps so I can play SWAT and Snipers which is stupid as hell and the graphics and sound were not next gen worthy Halo 3 was a huge dissapointment.

I'm glad that other people feel this way, because I completely agree. Halo 2 was definitely a lot more revolutionary for its time than halo 3 is, and frankly I think it is a lot more balanced. I think the spartan laser among other weapons unbalanced halo 3. In 2 it seemed like you had a change with any weapon, yes, I actually like the smg more than the assault rifle in 3 and you could duel wield with it, so right off the bat you could duel wield or switch to battle rifle, sniper rifle, etc.
