PGR4? I mean it comes out tomorrow and there has been ZERO hype or even debate about this game for the last 2 weeks or so. I know Halo 3 is out and everything, but PGR4 has a Halo like status in the racing genre. I just think its odd..
You hit the nail on the head with Halo 3, along with other games including the contents of The Orange Box. Forza 2 came out at the best time as it was one the few big names that came out during the summer. PGR4 decided to come out during rush hour, and now it's stuck in traffic.
Why should anyone be hyping it? I know it has some level of popularity, and I'm not trying to knock the game, but let's be honest, it's an upper middle class game at best. Even it's own genre it's not nearly the king of the hill. Forza, Gran Turismo, Burnout are all series that regularly have 9+ rated games and are more popular, PGR is a mid 8 game at best and basically just another decent and solid arcade racer, but nothing more than that.
This is the year of the huge game, and PGR just isn't a huge game. It will be a nice addition to arcade racer fans, and probably end up selling a decent amount of games, but it's just another game really.
What do you expect whenthey release a game like 6 days after an epic release like Halo 3. If the developers are lucky maybe a few individuals saved there money for PGR4.
there's nothing to really look forward to in the new PGR4 except for the new graphics and a decent looking motorcycle mode. to be honest, it's just a well done racing game series. That's it. No customization or anything. just race race race and then kudo challenges. I guess everyone just has that been there done that mentality.
Halo has taken all of the attention of 360 gamers recently but for those others who either dont care much for halo or have money left over for PGR4 are sure to go pick it up so its still gonna get the attention it deserves in due time.
u answered you quesition in your first post..halo 3. All they had to do was maybe wait one more month and it would have got hype, but all the guides/helps and everything of that nature is now coming out right around now soo there kinda screwed

Yea I fit in that category and hype doesnt affect my purchasing decision at all. I bought halo 3 not because of the hype but because I had $60 laying around and friends who wanted to play it online so I bought it. But Im buying PGR4 because its a genre that I enjoy alot.
I enjoyed PGR3 when it was released, but thats only because it was one of the only racing titles available. But I'm more into the simulation type racing games and PGR as a series is focused more on arcade driving. I also have a feeling its going to be more of the same...so...I think I'll pass and stick to Forza.
i think i'll eventually whittle my games down to halo 3, forza 2, and the orange box with a few others tossed in. pgr just doesn't have that big of a fan base.
There is definitely hype for this game. I've seen the television commercial several times. It just can't get onto magazine covers or be the central focus of game sites because of ____. We all knew that. I just thought I'd share that there is definitely a PGR4 commercial, and it runs often enough to where I'm tired of it, so they are trying their best. Can't get cooperation from journalists when it's time to hype Halo 3.

I was unimpressed by PGR3 outside of its visuals, so I see no reason to hype PGR4 =P There's too much out there I'd rather play and I'm quite happy with Forza.

There is nothing that has Halos status............the biggest entertainment realease in North AMerican history, come on.
Every one has been hyping for Halo and spendin all their money on it instead of saving for somethin else. I actually forgot Bioshock existed until it came out. Halo 3 has just set the entire basis for hype in ppl that own a 360.
You know what's bizzare is I loved PGR3 and I had no idea this was so soon to release. After the single player of PGR3 the multiplayer was a blast. Then suddenly one day, I couldn't find anybody online to play with. I'm now really looking forward to this game. Unfortunatly after halo my cash flow is on the low side.

Sorry for confusion, but when I meant "Halo status" I just meant that it's well known in the Xbox community and is rather popular in the racing community. I guess Forza 2 has stolen that crown, but I know I'm getting it for the visuals and the gameplay of course (I need something pretty to look at after I get a new HDTV or get it repaired).
unless it gets around a 9 I won't bother even looking at it, but you are right about it being weird that there has been next to nothing about a new game in a series that has proved to be fairly popular in the long run.
its because halo is such a huge game. and i know pgr is awesome, but it doesnt have the status like halo. pgr is a great game but it simply isnt a console pusher, at least thats not what microsoft thinks seeing as they spent alot of money just to get halo advertised (pauses and watches a halo 3 commercial) oh master chief you had me at "i need a weapon"
