They are hated because they are not IW.
Had they made their own game with WaW they would have been ragged on for not being like COD4. Yet since they used the same game engine with a different skin, they were ragged on for being too much like COD4.
In the end, unless Treyarch changed their name to IW, they will always live in the shadow of IW and people will forever think they are the lesser product. Even when they take the exact same engine and reskin it.
Yeah. I personally liked Call of duty 5's campaign alot better then Modern warfare. But the multiplayer in MW is def better.
Seems a lot of gamers lack the capacity to like more than one gamedeveloper. Sure, Infinity Ward mightbe the better developer, but Treyarch still makes some good games. I've played Call of Duty: World at War, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows and Ultimate Spider-Man and I enjoyed all of them. Call of Duty: United Offensive was my favorite Call of Duty game and that was developed by Grey Matter a developer that has since merged with Treyarch. You could argue Treyarch is more talented considering they have to develop way more games than Infinity Ward in shorter spans of time.
I think Treyarch gets a lot of flak. Their last game World at War was really good IMO. I played it just as intensely as I played Modern Warfare 1 and thought it was an excellent game. What I don't like about Treyarch's COD games are the vehicle missions. I don't like driving tanks or sitting in the airplane gunner seat. Very dull.
They're okay, not bad, but definitely worse than Infinity Ward. And they seem much less creative, almost like riding on Infinity Ward's success. World at War's multiplayer specifically was like a carbon copy of CoD4.Englando_IVThis. Riding on coattails, as it were.
I think I got COD3 with my xbox. Loved it, still play the multiplayer regularly. But obviosly COD 4 blew it out the water. Prefered WAW campaign, multiplayer was ok, mainly because it had CTF mode.
But COD6 is the best yet for campaign anyway, havent played much multiplayer.
So I dont hate Treyarch, infact I love COD3 cause its the only game I can play when am drunk. All the other COD multiplayers are mayhem, they need to chill out a bit.
Treyarch is okay, I enjoyed Call of Duty WaW for a while but still, I think they're kind of trying to steal Infinity Ward's success from them.
i wouldn't say they are "trying" to steal infinity ward's success. Activision tells Treyarch what to make, Treyarch makes it. People act like it's Treyarch's idea to do the every other year COD thing, it's not their fault, it's activision.Treyarch is okay, I enjoyed Call of Duty WaW for a while but still, I think they're kind of trying to steal Infinity Ward's success from them.

they get a lot of hate for Call of Duty 3. a lot of people thought it was a "me too!" version of CoD2, only with vehicles (which again, not everyone likes) and more bugs/glitches. that and the overall level of polish in TreyArch games is never up to spec with the IW titles (at least I think). they also get flack for one last WW2 game (but that honestly wasn't their fault, World At War was halfway through development when CoD4 came out, and I hear that's when they were informed that CoD had shifted timelines).
The problem is that they don' t try to do aything beyond what IW does personally I think Treyarch should make a zombie game already beacuse Nazi Zombies is awesome.
Treyarch is looked down upon simply because of one thing--they are seen not really seen as a PRIMARY developer of the COD franchise, and simply only "stepped in" on COD3 (Big Red one doesnt really count). Today, they are very well into the Call of Duty cycle, but a lot of fans hated Treyarch because COD5 was too similar to COD4. In truth, the only original aspect of the entire game was Nazi Zombies and 4-player co-op; the game was virtually a WWII copy of modern warfare. I actually tried out COD5 a bit, but the weapons felt extremely shallow and dull compared to the weapons of Modern Warfare. I continued to play COD4 even after the release of COD5, simply because in my opinion, they re-released the same game, but slapped a WWII skin on it, which I am fairly tired of.
Infinity Ward was able to take COD4, balance it, and add a huge array of new features to play around with to keep the gameplay fresh in the coming years (in MW:2), which I think makes them the better developer. However, Treyarch is rumored to be developing a Cold War game, and I am interested in how that will turn out.
