isnt live the most well implemented out of the 3 consoles? i dont know cause i bought my 360 todaySerial-No_3404
Yes, and I don't think anyone would pay $50 for the Wii's online service.
I'd pay $50 just to have the 360s ability to private chat on the other consoles. Of course, the Wii needs the ability to talk at all first.
im so sick of people wanting something for nothing, if u dont like paying, then dont, i doubt microsoft could care less, but im extremely happy with what i get for the fee i paychaoscougar1
something for nothing? You bought the console and the game! Free online services aren't what you want its what you diserve
Selling games does not give Microsoft money to update the service. I thought they were losing money for every console they sold for awhile.
I have had live since 2003 and I have not heard many people complaining about paying at the time. Why is everyone whining now when the service is much better. Is it because the PS3 is offering decent online and the Wii is, sort of, offering online for free?
If you can afford a 360, you can afford 50 bucks a year. Work at McDonald's for a month and you'll get enough for the year and then some.
Plus, most of you are mooching off money from your parents anyway so what does it matter.
And to answer your question, it's because it produces a lot of revenue and profit for Microsoft, which lets them make more games and hardware. It's good enough to warrant the 50 bucks.
Ask your self what in life is free?
Its 4$ a month get over it.. The service isnt great and tons of problems.. But 4$ come on..
just end the thread.
Seirously...ask yourself, "What am I paying money for?". Online multiplayer! Oh wait PS3 and wii give it away free. DLC! nope you have to pay more for that aswell. It seems to me that Microsoft is an expert at nickle and dimeing people, they've got us paying for something that is included in the thing we just bought! Hopefully pressure from Sony and Nintendo will cause Microsoft to change their ways, (not likely). And before you say it NO im not trolling or a fanboy, I dont even own a PS3 or Wii.Lord-Nerevar

I've always been against paying for simple multiplayer, especially given its all host driven and MS do not set up dedicated servers for games, where does the money go?!? Certainly not anywhere usefull.
I buy the occasional 3/mo prepaid card when I want to get some online achievements, otherwise i stay well away from it.
yea but if you plan on having the console 3-4 years, thats $150-$200..kinda expensive if you think about it in the long run.If you can afford a 360, you can afford 50 bucks a year. Work at McDonald's for a month and you'll get enough for the year and then some.

It matters to those of us who work for our money and pay rent.
I would much rather divert the $80 (It' $80 usd in this country) toward 2, even 3 new games, or better yet spend it on the myriad of bills i pay every month. Not all of us mooch off our parents, and to some of us that money is needed elsewhere, besides, how is making MS almost raw profit going to benefit me? New hardware/software?? I still have to PAY for that too, your logic is twisted.

nope, there's not point to online play without voice chat, otherwise to me it's just like fighting a harder computer, which isn't much fun imo.
