When I rent a move from Blockbuster, I have 2 to 5 days to watch it, depending on whether it is a new release or not. With the XBox 360 movie downloads, I can keep the video for 14 days, but once you press play you only have 24 hrs? This short time period bit me in the rear on my very first purchase. I started watching a movie, but something came up and I wasn't able to get back to it until the next day. I missed the last 10 minutes of 'Into a Scanner Darkly', which I think is when they explain everything about the movie (which definitely needed some explaining). Needles to say, I'm not going to rent it again.

I think they need to extend the time to view to be at least equal that of Blockbuster.  New videos would have 2 days to watch after pressing 'play'.  Older videos would have 5 days to watch after pressing 'play'. For new movies the 360 price is about the same, but for older ones it's more expensive so they need to at least match the time to view if they aren't going to match the price.

if you have digital cable to satellite, they do the same thing that you have it for a day so they must be some sort of reason why they do it.

Interesting. I wonder if it's the same way with Pay Per View on cable?

The money isn't too far off. The older movies shouldn't be more than $2, but right now run about $3 to $4 I believe (it's always hard converting Microsoft points, which is what they wanted... but that's another rant for another day). The only effect the 24 hr limit has had on me is to convince me to not use the service again.

I just foundt his article. It looks like Microsoft is going to make a pretty penny on the service offering. "Research firm Research and Markets this week said that revenue from TV shows and movies from Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 video game console could reach $92.25 million in 2007." Read article http://news.punchjump.com/article.php?id=3641. I wish they'd offer us the ability to download any move we want, any time. I'd pay a healthy monthly fee for that, wouldn't have the 24hr to watch problem, and I'd be able say so long to my DVD collection.
