why the hell is the three red ring malfunction called red rings of death,

I mean there is just three red lights in noway do they look like rings. and when the malfunction happends it does not look like a ring.It is not a circle!!.. I mean i know it is not important but it just gets on my nerves. thanks.

You have reason to worry,i had mine since launch and mine red ringed lawst week while playing biosho,only way to play it now is that towl trick and it only works for awhile

you must have a special 360 cause mine has (X)box 360 written all over it.

Because MS was notorious for the "Blue screen of death" in thier Windows programs, the statement of "Red ring of death" is a spin off of that.Psychotic_360

But imagine people that don't know it's only 3 red lights to mean death, and you just pull out the video cable from the back and the system so it will start up with a full red ring (4 lights), they'd be freaking out that they got the red ring of death.

I'm more will ing to complain about why it's NOT 4 red lights for hardware failure. You'd think such a serious thing would be all red lights, but something so low-level as a loose video cable gets to have all red lights.
