I just got the game today from Gamefly and have played it for 6 hours already.  I'm really getting into the game world and especially the battle system.  Collecting and using Golems is a great mechanic, as is the grid based system.  The voice acting is no worse than most other RPG's and the graphics are good, with dazzling lighting effects.  It's a great JRPG and I can't wait to finish it.

So why did everyone seem to despise it with a passion?  Is there just a general deep-seeded hatred of all things JRPG?  Because most of the criticisms I've seen are aimed at the whole genre, not just Enchanted Arms.

That's a good question!!  I've beaten the game, and had a blast with it.  People said that it didn't bring anything new to the table...but I ask, what RPG really has brought anything new to the table in the past 5 years or so?  The voice acting was just as good as any other...

I think alot of people (Maybe the younger/less mature crowd) were put off with the guy gay too.  Big deal!!  Such a great game!!!  A lot of people are missing out.

The ONLY downfall of the game, IMHO, is the music.  A lot of it is just a short 20 sec track that's looped over and over...but that can be changed buy using your own music.

TO answer your question, I have no idea why such a fun game hasn't been so well recieved by the general public.

its a fairly generic JRPG. I mean, it was good and I played it for a good while, but it really is your common jrpg with some new things in it. Some good (fighting system) some bad (VP)
