I was really bored today and felt like playing the original Halo games to get ready for Reach in the fall.

So i put in Halo 1 and to my surprise I got a message saying. Could not play. Please download again. Why is this happening? You don't need to download a game that you have on a disc??!!?!?

Then I tried Halo 2 which is not on games on demand. Same message. doesn't work. WTF

Why is this?? Thanks

Do you have a hard drive with your 360?

I don't know. What condition is your 360 and Halo 1 and discs in? Halo 1 and 2 are compatible with the 360. I just played them a couple weeks ago. Like the user above said, do you have a hard drive? You do need one in order to play them. And you don't need live either. So it's either because of your 360, you game discs or you don't have a hard drive.

I have both and they work fine on mine. I agree it's either your 360, the game disks, or lack of a hard drive.

Sounds like you need a firmware update. Just hook your Xbox into the the I/N somewhere turn it on and let it do the update shouldn't take more than just a few minutes.
