Why you shouldn't buy an Xbox One

They fixed the used games and always-online thing, but the biggest problem is still there, the Kinect.

Not so much that it has to be plugged in, but what it does.

It stalks you, it sees and hears everything you do, and will be used for advertisers, say, you are playing with your friend, and you say "Man, my car broke down", it will show a Mazda commercial on the dashboard.

It will only disable it in menus and in games, but I gaurantee, someone will test the power consumption of the Xbox One, and it will not change when Kinect is disabled.

At this point everyone in the world is getting spied on. Kinect spying on me only makes me feel special and needed. It distinguishes me from the masses. I am one side of the round table of virtue and calamity. I am always watching, always waiting.

We've been around cameras forever monitors, smartphones and webcams do the same shit! And if you think someone couldn't access your camera without permission, on any of those devices your insane.

Even though them "watching" us is a bunch of crap, I could care less if they were. I'm not doing anything that I would be ashamed of. Also, I don't think they would want to anger the consumers any more than they already have.

Then you shouldn't buy an Xbox One.  That's your choice.  Good for you.

I, however, am anxiously awaiting the arrival of Xbox One, spy cam and all.

Or maybe just people who are concerned about the issues surrounding the XB1....why is it that whenever someone criticizes the Xbox they are labeled a fanboy? ANYWAY...back on topic, the spycam issue was kinda a minor thing for me but just as others have said....all of our electronics have some type on monitoring device implemented in it.

My major beef was the used games and the system not being able to work if it wasn't online. Now that those issues have been cleared up I will probably get an XB1 sometime in the future.

No reason to buy the PS4 I couldnt care about price or graphics. Graphics don't make games sorry im still buying an xbox one

there are only 3 reasons to not buy an XBone:

1. PS4 is 100 dollars less

2. PS4 is more powerful

I couldnt actually care about this spy cam thing. I bet in fact MS have a team of people that can look through the spy cam, like a security guard in a shopping centre. Infact i bet next you can ring up microsoft when your kid goes missing, and an announcement will be screamed out all our xbox's.

For those of you who are terrified of being spied on by Xbox One and Kinect, a few questions for you:

Do you have a tablet?
Laptop with built-in camera?
Cell phone?
Land line?

If so, are you scared of being watched by or listened to by those devices?  Are you scared that your conversations are being listened to?  Or that the camera on it could be watching you?

Do you have an account with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or any other social media site where you send messages and post pictures?

What about here, on GameSpot?  You're online, you're posting messages, you're connected.  Are you scared that you're leaving a trail so that, if someone was to want to watch or listen to you, they could?

You do realize that any number of devices could be used to spy on you, right?  In fact, any of your interned-connected devices could be used to spy on you.  You do understand that, right?

So what's so different about Kinect and Xbox One in your mind?  What has Microsoft done to cross the line with you that, that particular device -and not all of the other devices you own- could be used to spy on you?

The fact is, yes, the Kinect could be used to spy on you.  We all know "they" could be watching or listening if they wanted do.  Those that want to spy can, and every one of us has a device, or is connected to the internet, which opens the door for them to do so.  Hell, look at drones!  Any of us at any given time could be spied on.

So, again, what is it about the Xbox One and Kinect that terrifies you so much?
