I don't know what to choose between Ps3 and Xbox 360.Now i am not gonna ask you which console is better because it's the stupidest question to post on a Xbox Forum, the answer is obvious you are all gonna say Xbox. But my real question is why does it cost so much for online access?

I mean my friend has a PS3 and he has a linksys router and he just jacks up a ps3 wire on the router and pays nothing. But my other friend has a XBOX 360 and says that you can have a silver account for free or you could BUY a Xbox live Gold account for 49.99 plus taxe. That's something that realy blows up my mind.

I have a ps3 and 360...I like the 360 online service better, just feels more like a community...hopefully PSN gets better. But 49.99 a YEAR, equates to about 4 dollars a month...it's not that expensive, but I guess some people don't have $50 to spend on it.

Well there are so many more people on XBox live, so the chance is, if your on a game looking for a match, you will find one. PS3 you don't get them chances.

Also it all runs very smooth when trying add people, check up on them, compare, again in comparison with the PS3 which doesn't flow aswell.

its not expensive as someone has said and you pay for the added quality, no other online is as good as LIVE if you compare it with other consolses.

if I were you, I would wait because there are tons of rumors of new sku's such as the ultimate and new bundles, like a Devil may cry 4 one, So I would wait to your decsion between the PS3 or 360 for a few more weeks, rumors are tonight that Bill will announce the ultimate at Microsoft's CES Keynote.

Dude buying one of the consoles usually comes down to the exclusive titles for the consoles, the ps3 has some good stuff like ratchet and clank and warhawk, while the 360 has games like halo 3, bioshock, mass effect and a lot more. The ps3 is catching up, and the online being free is nice, but still the 360 has fantastic online support and more exclusives making it the definitive console for first person shooting(besides the pc) but the gold account being 50 clams a year, so what? Even one of my friends who is saying he is poor says the service is cheap. Its like paying for the price of a game, for adding an insane amount of value, seriously you cant buy halo 3 or call of duty quatro without having a gold account. Yes, posting this on a 360 forum mightve been a bad idea, but you should take my advice in deciding between the two consoles 1. Which online service is best (dont worry the every now and then times when live is down happens rarely) and 2.which EXCLUSIVES look the most interesting. 3. Whichever way you go the online service is cheap.

Xbox live runs PERFECTLY, except for this one holiday season where record numbers joined! PS3 online is a joke compatitvely, xbox live works much better, and if you choose silver membership, you get a free month of live gold before having to upgrade to gold properly. so you can test it out for youself.

the 360's online services are more robust than the PS3's. and while i appreciate games like Warhawk and Resistance having great MP on the PS3, there are games like Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted that seem like they would have great multiplayer, but yet have none. it's weird...

It costs so much because you get premium service for your premium money. Plus everyone should have a mic since it came with the 360, you get a great downloadable service, and Xbox Live's servers have been great until Christmas (they didn't think as many people would be subscribing to Xbox Live as they did), but they are getting better all the time. It has way more to offer than the PS3's service.

You really can't compare the systems as they are now. Sure the 360 has a bunch more games for it, and a lot more exclusive games. Well, I wonder why that is. Maybe it's because it's been out for a year longer. And everybody complains that a lot PS3 games are just ports from the 360. Obviously they don't remember when the Xbox got ports from the PS2. Honestly when you look at what you are getting for a better deal, I would say PS3. You get more for you money, quite a bit more. For the same thing with the 360 you'd be paying over the cost of a PS3. Now I can't say anything about online access for these. To me, I don't think $50 a year is a whole lot. But then again, I did just pay $60 for that same game. I think I'd be entitled to the entire game for that much. I guess it all depends on what you want from your game console. If you want to have more people online, more games, and you want your console to crash in about 12 months or less, go for a 360. If you want something that will last longer, has more functions, and three consoles in one, go for the PS3.

You'll notice will gp stright to the "But its cheap" line when its not how much it costs, but its that it costs at all. Thats the issue. On a PS3, you load up the game, join servers, and play just like ont he 360. You just dont have to pay to do that. Pretty simple. As for why they charge for LIVE, who knows, Im sure some memo will be leaked from MS one day explaining why.

Live is about 8 bucks a month. Because you have to pay, you get less noobs and weirdos on there. All in all it's better, plus there is more people in the community. And there are ways to get around the payment, but I won't go into that...
