the consensus is its not that great of a game, I'm gonna give it a rent.grandstroker
It's been giving reviews from 60% to 90%, and a lot more are 90%, the place that gave it a 60 was yahoo games - and I don't think anyone would take them serious
It's gotten a bunch of good reviews. Far more positive then negative. People overreact, as usual. Look at metacritic, which combines scores from major publications:
http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/darkness
It's gotten quite a few 9s. The 7.8/10 from IGN isn't even a bad score. Would people even be mentioning it if they had given it an 8/10? It's stuff like that which makes it easy to understand why Gamespot is overhauling their review system, and why their reasoning behind it is sound and logical. What's the difference exactly in the quality of a game between one that gets a 7.8 rating and one that gets an 8? How would you properly measure that? Good for Gamespot.
this is one of those games that tests me.. i won't buy a 50 or 60$ game if it doesn't get a 9 or higer.. but this game. bah, i just love how it looks but the reviews make me nervous, i have a friend who's getting a ps3 and the darkness tommorow and if he says its amazing [me and him are both really picky about what a good game actually is] i'll probably buy a 360 copy sometime this week.. i'm suprised gamespot hasn't posted a review yet though.
Definetly not worth a buy.....you'll be lucky to get 15 hours out of it. im gonna rent itedflam311
I heard thats only if you don't do any of the side missions.
I think this game has had a decent amount of publicity for the 360 considering it wasnt a microsoft published game... this game is gonna be awesome im picking up my copy in like an hour...

Every game can't be an oblivion. 15 hours is usually the general time to play a single player FPS game. I see you have a Rainbow Six Vegas icon as your avatar. That single player campaign was very short and I don't play the multiplayer that much if at all. But I have no regrets purchasing that game, it rocked.
Just saying not all FPS games are more then 15 hours if any that I can remember besides Oblivion and that wasn't even an FPS more like an FPRPG.

even then what 18-20 hours?I don't see a problem with 18-20 hrs, that's still better than the 6.5 hrs it took to beat Gears on Hardcore (and it was fun too). Unlike other facets in life, don't judge a game by it's length!

Does this game have an online mp? that could justify a purchase (kinda like R6)[QUOTE="BigDaveyDogz"][QUOTE="edflam311"][QUOTE="BigDaveyDogz"]even then what 18-20 hours?[QUOTE="edflam311"]Definetly not worth a buy.....you'll be lucky to get 15 hours out of it. im gonna rent itedflam311

I think this game is incredible, I'm actually surprised at how awesome it turned out, (& I was totally expecting it to be good anyway). It is completely surpassing my expectations.ColoradoKindBud
That's what I like to hear!
The next gen version of Maxpayne IMOilplaynebody510thats exactly why it immediately appealed to me. A game with the atmosphere of max payne combined with Riddick-esque gameplay is a winner in my book. I picked up my copy earlier today. I'm only a few hours in, so I dont have too much to go off of, but what I have been able to play has been fantastic. My only complaint, like most of the reviews ive read, is that the AI is a little shoddy. But overall, its a very solid game.
