Microsoft's motto: Why have it built in when we can sell it as an add-on for more money?

Though people complain, theres not enough backlash to change anything.

People complain, yet they still buy the adapter because they want to play online.

Why would Microsoft change anything as long as people are buying.

When people stop buying is when things will change.

why in the hell does everyone act like the WiFi adapter is REQUIRED to play online?? I don't know ANYONE that uses them, yet every message board(especially people bashing 360)acts like it is a requirement... almost every single person i know that is seriously into gaming would NEVER consider wireless.. its just not as stable as ethernet cables.. so go whine somewhere else, wireless internet is not standard, it is a luxury. cables work just fine.. and another thing,... everyone keeps saying that you have to spend like $99 on the wireless adapter where almost ANY will work fine, i just found one online that is compatible for 25.99$, same price as ethernet cable(50-75ft)..seriously why does every get so mad about accessories?? they are NEVER required for anything, so if you don't like it don't buy it. When they first made 360's they were selling them at a loss. If they would've added MORE hardware, then it would've been more than 499$(canadian) when they came out(cough ps3) and look how bad ps3 sales were till they started the price drops.

I have thought about going wi-fi,but for the money I just bought a cat 6 ethernet cable.I have 10meg sec cable internet so i know it wont slow down with the the ethernet cable. But it would be nice to have wi-fi built in for the option, but then again they can get away with charging $90 for it.

i agree with the whole built in Wi-Fi thing and its not too late but... i sorta care about prices i dont want to spend like another $300 just to buy another Xbox 360 that has bulit in Wi-Fi when you can just buy the Wi-Fi adapter for $100....hey thats an idea why dont people just buy the Wi-Fi Adapter?!

I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong but I believe PS3 and Wii both have them built in. $100 for a wireless adapter is ******* bs. They probably cost a tiny fraction of that to make. You can get one for PC for like $30. It's just a way to squeeze as much money out of us as they can. Like on original Xbox when you had to buy a special ethernet cord for system link. It was like $15 for a 10 foot cord, WAY overpriced.

charging extra for accessories was a way for MS to make money when they were losing money on each console... they just need to bring some of those prices down now though, since they can make profit on the 360 these days.

You don't know anyone so therefore nobody uses them. WiFi works fine for online gaming, I use it for my 360, PS3, and PC.

Exactly. Not everybody wants a Wi-Fi connection and if they had one built-in, the console would cost more even if you didn't want that feature.

Microsoft gives you the option. One of them is the official Microsoft wireless adapter, but its hardly the only option, even if you want to go wireless.

I would suggest that in the future, they have one spec of Xbox that has it built-in, but have lesser models that dont have it, kinda like they did with the hard drives.

You could use a network extender.

if it breaks and u can only get them inside ur xbox and not as a adapater then its going to mess u up when its broken, new xbox if no warranty if u dont care about the price why not buy the adapter, it dont make sense using that as a argument

Same here - I wouldn't use wireless if it was built in, since I much prefer the reliability and consistent speed of my wired connection

Having it built in would just raise the price of the console for something I don't want. If you want it, then pay more to get it.

The only thing that was optional with this generation that really needs to be included as standard is the harddrive. If all consoles have the harddrive then all games can take advantage of it, whereas now games have to be able to work without it and it can be a limitation.

I am glad they didn't and I know other people who are glad as well. Why pay for something your not going to use. Now if they included Wi-Fi and the price was the same then great but I don't think that would be the case.

Also, I wouldn't play games online with a wireless connection. Wired is just much better.

Ethernet > wireless. Wireless is unreliable, unsecure and just crap.
