Or do I need to buy a compatible headset?

The thing is I really want a quality headset for sound quality over my normal (crappy) Tv speakers. I really want to immerse myself into the games but I don't want to wake up the entire block doing so or causing too much noise for my parents.

What are some good quality headsets that at least outperform my regular Tv speakers? I was thinking about the HyperX CloudX for the Xbox One. The box/product is a certified Xbox accessory. or Could I just use my Bose headphones? I have the Elite controller to it has the 3.55mm jack but when I plug by Bose headphones it doesn't transfer the audio to my headphones or maybe my headphones aren't 3.55mm jack wires. Can someone give a a run down on these things as I am not too bright on technology.

Better a Bose sound system and let that surround sound rock the building down.

Technically based on what you just said, your Bose headphones should work as long as it is the 3.5mm input you put directly into the controller. Open the guide and make sure your volume & chat/music balance settings are correct, otherwise I don't know why they are not working for you, maybe they are just not compatible as you implied.

I use the HyperX CloudX half the time, and they are great for the price, definitely some of the best I've owned. They plug directly into the controller and do not require an external power source(they draw power direct from the controller). I also use the Astro A50 but those are quite expensive and do require the external amplifier/antenna receiver thing, and those plug into the optical port of the console or TV, so you get higher quality audio. They are great but too expensive to recommend honestly, I don't have major issues with them but sometimes they feel cumbersome on my head, they are considered some of the top headphones.

There are also a few others that recently came out that can connect directly to your console via wireless, such as this one that Gamespot did an article on:

"Peripheral manufacturer Turtle Beach announced that it has started shipping out its Stealth 600 wireless gaming headset, which will be fully available worldwide on September 4. Those who pre-ordered the Xbox One version of the headset should be receiving it ahead of the release date, and limited stock on its website can be ordered now. The Stealth 600 is the first headset to connect directly to all Xbox One consoles wirelessly, meaning it doesn't need a USB adapter to work."

So yeah , long story short, good luck with your research, there are a lot of choices out there and things to consider, if you want if you want a good mic for chatting or not, etc. I recommend you do more research basically, lot of great articles out there
