I dunno what to think about borderlands, It looks pretty cool, and the number of weapons sounds like a typo, and I love shooters with rpg elements, so it sounds good, I just dont know if they will pull it all off. What do you guys think about this game, and what do you think its review score will be? Im thinking 7.9

It looks like a Fallout 3/Half life 2 hybrid. I'll wait for the reviews.

Looks like a cross between XIII (remember that?) and Fallout 3. Only not as good.

And I guarantee this thing about half a million guns will be untrue. It will turn out there are 500,000 different upgrade combinations or something like that. The number of actually different guns will probably be at most 50. They'll just have say 5 upgrade positions on each gun, with maybe 10 different upgrades that can go in each slot (scopes, suppressors etc) and say its a brand new gun. It's simply impossible to invent half a million genuinely differnt guns. After a while, they'll all be very minor differentiations of each other.

Hope I'm wrong though. I reckon it will be underwhelming, especially as I can't seem to find any proper gameplay footage so close to the alleged release date...makes me suspicious. The only reason publishers do that is to maintain hype arounda turkey to ensure maximum sales before people find out it sucks...

Again, hope I'm wrong though.

It looks fantastic. The amount of things to do is crazy, plus it's got the co-op and awesome art style. I liked Fallout 3, but I believe this game will blow it out of the water.

If it's Mature (which it most likely will be after watching videos of people getting their heads blown off and blood squirting out of their necks) than i'll buy it.

The main quest plot/story they come up with will be improtant, stuff like voice acting and cut scenes. I haven't seen any preveiws or heard too much about the story beyond that your on a derelict planet hunting for treasure in a mythic vault. That is a pretty good thesis for a good plot but it remains to be seen if Gearbox can deliver. They shouldn't make the main quest short and rely on multiplayer/co-op either. The side quests will be important too and hopefully they are numerous with good side stories.

The combat looks good, even if it isn't the best shooter ever it has rpg elements. It looks plenty gorey, which is good. There wont be 500,000 different guns but 500,000 different randomly generated variations on a number of baseline guns. Vehicle customization is an interesting idea if the vehicle combat is good.

I was against the new cell-shaded graphics at first, but I'm willing to give Gearbox the benefit of the doubt on that. Maybe their graphics will be cool. They should take their time working out any bugs before release

Gearbox is tryiing some new things, hopefully their successful and this game is good, if not it might bankrupt the company. The 360 could use more games like this and companies that try new things/aim high/take risks. I'm hoping for an 8.0 to 8.5, a great game with a few insignificant problems.

Theres an insane amount of weapons but i have a feeling most of them will be reskinned versions of other guns that feel and sound exactly the same.

I don't think this will blow Fallout 3 out of the water, but it will be something special to look at. Its gotten some good reviews so far, but its nothing revolutionary. It is certainly something to check out for everyone, and should first be rented out. It may not be up to certain people's references, but i heard it will satisfy and have a good lasting appeal. So yeah, check it out, but its not gonna be a direct shoo-in for game of the year if you know what i mean.

It looks great. A mixture of an FPS and RPG Sounds like a good idea. I dont know if they are going to be able to pull it off with the hand drawn graphics.

In addition, I heard this was going to be an open world kind of game. And what they need to do is to successfully develop the world and the environment in the game. Its gotta have some feeling and not be totally generic, as if it were something just put in there. So it would be great if there was a sort of message given from the world to the player to give them a full experience. That was what Fallout was able to do, being a post apocalyptic era style of environment, people were able to delve deeply within to content of the game and have a wonderful experience. (I liked the GNR soundtrack too) So hopefully, Gearbox was able to do this too, then this game would be a must buy for me!

It's going to be around 8.5-9.0 here since most scores on metacritic are like that.

And it's developed by Gearbox, which means it should be playable.

I agrees with you. Boarderlands looks like it's going to be a blast to play with friends. Any idea on how long the game is? .

From the reviews and what I read, 20-100 hours, it varies says IGN and Gametrailers. Yeah, I'm so excited for this game too.
