Cod 5 is being made by Treyarch so will it be just as bad as Cod 3?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Yes. No chance.
Crappy developer and WWII setting = another generic rehash that a lot of people will buy.
Hmm, lets see. Its going back to WWII, CoD 3 sucked, Treyarch has royally ****ed every game its ever made. Yep, it'll suck.

I don't understand why everyone says CoD3 sucked. It got an 8.8 here and great reviews everywhere else. The multiplayer was okay and the campaign was pretty intense and fun. They should do what few WWII fps games have done and go to the war in the Pacific. Heck, do WWIII!!!
Some ideas for CoD5
-Play as a Soviet advancing on Berlin
-Play as a marine in the Pacific
-Play as a Nazi soldier this time invading Russia!

Honestly, that sounds kinda cool.
I somehow doubt Call of Duty will ever feature a soldier from the Wehrmact as a main character (unless it's a side mission that doesn't get too much light), just because there *are* people who will refuse to "kill their grandfathers", and CoD *is* marketed towards a lot of those people.
Not labelling anyone here, but if we ever see a game from the German point of view, I'll expect it to be from Gearbox or another developer. Probably not EA or Activision.
If it counts toward anything, I'm all for a game based on the German point of view.

But they too were just heeding the "Call of Duty". Not that I condone what the Third Reich did in any way, shape or form.

Well, I'm not. The game would lose its sense of heroism and patriotism, and why would I want to play as a Nazi? Ew.

Yes, it would be hard for me to play as a soldier for a regime responsible for the death of millions in a concentration camp. Even if we dust off the old "it's only a game" argument, I still find in reprehensible.
Oh, and back to the original topic, I loved COD 3. I think it played just as well as the other titles. About the only complaint that I had was that it didn't feel like the theaters were varied enough, and compared to the excellent job that COD 2 did in that regard, it's a shallow complaint. Of the three CODs on the 360, COD 3 is my least favorite, but I still thought that it was a fantastic game and I have played through it multiple times. I especially enjoyed the missions with Vera. I can honestly see why the genre has gotten old for many. I still love the subject matter, so the games interest me greatly. Now Medal of Honor, on the other hand, has gone down the tubes in my book. I used to be a hardcore MOH fanboy, but Airborne was atrocious and I will never buy another one of their titles without renting it first.
Well, there we go. Yeah, I'm totally not a Nazi, for the record. But if they looked at the combat side of the German army (even Band of Brothers put some humanity into the surrendering German soldiers at the end), and not the whole murdering Jews thing...
I just enjoyed All Quiet On The Western Front and some other pieces of literature. Not every German killed Jews for fun.

Haha, a Nazi soldier.. now THAT would be a new and fun twist on the game.
And of course, it will never happen.
I don't mean to continue this off-topic discussion of playing as a Nazi, but...
I believe playing from the perspective of a soldier in the Nazi army would be great. Sure, they're labelled for being wrong, but at the time what they did was right for them. Isn't it fair that we respect them for their choice even though it's clearly not a very thought out choice. Not everyone was for the murdering of the Jews, etc... But they fought for their country like Americans did for their country. Sure it may be controversial, but isn't that what everyones looking for nowadays? Look at how much attention Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas got. Sure a lot of it was negative, but if you're like me, I totally picked up a copy once I found out how "bad" it was.
Thats my two cents on this discussion.
i loved cod 1 2 and 3 i didn't like cod4 and it ruined cod for me and i lost a lot of respect for infinity ward after cod4, they should either stick to what they are good at or actually try something new giving us the same thing and packaging it differently is just an insult to me thats just my opinion. cod5 can be great or it can be absolute garbage i can't say and i was ultra excited for cod4 and that turned out to be the most disappointing game for me personally so i can't really say anything but i hope not.clarkportmanken
The part I put in bold makes no sense. Stick to what you are good at? Yeah, forget the fact that CoD4 is the best game in the series... and that people can't stop playing it online because it's so good... They did stick to what they are good at and made an amazing game in the process. Maybe you should stick to what you are good at (here's a hint, not posting).

The word "respect" should never be associated with Nazis or Nazi sympathizers. Hitler and his closest allies were completely evil, and anyone who followed them was seriously misguided. There was plenty of indoctrination, sure, though they were still evil.
