Nope COD4 fanboys will be "rebels" and refuse to buy any COD not made by IW. I'll buy it more than likely because i don't mind WW2 games,it has co-op,and it just looks great.

not take away from cod4 , i mean will it have a huge online community meaning worth a buy, unlike cod3? the graphics in cod5 looks really good, and it doesn't look so arcady like cod3 was, it looks more like cod2 did, or the metal of honor games. looks good to me, and i'm looking forward to it, something about the ww2 settings that i'm a sucker for, i wish more people were. cod4 just didnt do it for me (i have it on pc)

I probably will buy it. I loved COD4, and co-op should be sweet. I'm kinda liking the darker campaign setting, too.

Speak for yourself buddy...COD4 is my favorite game rite now, Im a HUGE fan of it...but im definitely getting COD5...it doesnt matter WHO makes the game to me, its HOW the game is made and HOW good its gonna be and I believe COD5 is gonna be great...I think that it will live up to the COD name set by COD4 being that it is gonna be placed back in the WW2 era after COD4 was set in modern day...imo this was a good idea bcuz if they were to make another game in modern day then everyone would complain about that just like how everyone is complaining about how its gonna be WW2 again...JUST DEAL WIT IT PPL!!! if u dont like it, dont buy it! simple as that

No way. I don't think CoD 4 is going to be usurped from the top spot on Live until Gears 2 comes out.

Doubt it. A lot of people are turned off by the WW2 setting right off the bat, and then there's the fact that Treyarch are making it rather than Infinity Ward. I preordered the collector's edition of COD5 the other day though, I'm excited to play it.

No, for 2 reasons:

1) Its made by treyarch. People hate treyarch for ruining COD3.

2) Its WWII. Even though its the pacific theater instead of europe, the fact that its WWII will still drive people away.

The main reason why COD 4 will always be more popular is because of the modern setting. The World Wars have been done to death in the past and this was a great change. People will still buy COD 5 (op course!) But it won't last as long as the 4th game online.

No, I think the franchise is kind of jumping the shark. We've had a new release every year for the past four years and a lot of people consider Call of Duty 4 the peak of the series. Unfortunately, usually right after the peak of anything comes the "its not that cool anymore" backlash. Which I think we're already starting to see.

It's COD World at War. They didn't give it a number for a reason so don't call it COD 5, lol. And I don't think it will as popular right away, but people will see how great and mature it really is and it will end up becoming popular.

Personally when they went back to WWII like games, I was peeved. Overall, I believe it does have a chance. Its all in how they market the game. Gamers are always looking for a new experience, so they really should step it up and throw something new together. The question should be "Will COD5 be popular as long as COD4". The shelf life of COD4 is nice, its all online though. RBSV2 would have shut out COD4...It didnt. You would think COD4 would shut down HALO 3. They are remarkable games. COD5 has a shot, but not by much in my opinion. Microsoft has a winning strategy with XBL....if the online features/gameplay are great, then that would better its chances a great deal.

I don't know. I like where the story is going, but its WW2 and treyarch is making it. I thinks its too early for another COd game. Can't they wait 2 years and have people enjoy their games alittle longer??? I wont buy it because Gears 2, Far Cry 2, Fable 2, and Fallout 3 will drain all my money.

Why do ppl say Treyarch ruined CoD3? Sure, the single player was absolute crap. But the multiplayer was really good!

Yeah, COD5 will be popular, since that'll be made by Infinity Ward, most likely. As for Call of Duty: World at War, that's a different story.

Let's wait until the game comes out instead of speculating.

Ok, in the spirit of the TC's curiosity, I will say that COD:WAW will be just as popular as COD4 if and only if it retains the upgrades/perks/leveling up/challenges features (they don't have to be identical) and overall online polish of Modern Warfare. Let's face it: COD4 had a terrific single player campaign but it isn't the reason we're still playing it 6 months later.

IMO it looks like a huge improvement from COD4. 4 player co-op is gonna be awesome, and I've been waiting for a good WW2 game for a while. I also like that you(and your enemies) can climb up trees and use them as a vantage point, and all the little details like that.

It will for me. CoD 4 is boring already. After you play a hundred online matches and get most of the achievments it loses its draw.

dont talk bs COD4 multiplayer is as good as GOW and the storymode on GOW is much better and longer than a short 4 hour storymode of COD4. GOW clearly wins although i admit COD4 onlinee is hella fun

That's not even NEAR realisitic, even though it's a game and all, come on..flamethrowers? The game will sell, but not as much as COD4, not close. Unless..they have an open beta and listen to the people on what should be changed. But yeah, leave the flamethrowers to GoW2 and Halo.

No it wont be because Cod 4 was something new, something fresh from the very overplayed world war 2 scene. Cod 5 going back to ww2 is going to put many people off i think, especially considering it is played in the pacific where there were not that many well know battles unlike d-day etc in normandy. when i heard that cod5 was not modern warfare i was extremly dissappointed and am now currently playing bfbc, even though when cod 5 does come out i will try it...but im not expecting much :(

Not in my eyes. Modern Warfare is much more fun that WW2 because of the weapons and technology. However Keifer Sutherland has got me interested in COD5

Plus there is no better than the SAS!!!

I think Call of Duty World at War will do good. It takes place in the Pacific Theatre and actually has co-op play. Cod4 didn't have that so it may bring in some people.

Considering it looks like they went right back to the WW2 era, my interest in CoD5 went pretty much nil. WW2 as a setting for FPS's has gotten really tiring for me now, and it only became evident how bored I was with the setting when I finally got my hands on CoD4. It was such a refreshing difference, I'm a bit upset that they're going right back to it with World @ War. If they really needed to go to a historic situation, why not Desert Storm? World War 1? Just... anything, really. I don't even care if the stories/actions are fictitious. Hell, they could even go a pure sci-fi direction for all I care. Just no more WW2 era stuff, please!
