Will I be lost playing Crysis 2 if I haven't played the original Crysis?

I'm looking to possibly get Crysis 2 next week or the week after that, but Im wondering if the single-player will make no sense if I havent played the original Crysis. Is the SP in C2 overly-referential, to the point where it will make no sense if I didnt play Crysis, or will I be okay?

It won't be too bad, although there are some flashbacks that show characters and events from the previous game and you'll just be like "what the hell am I watching...?" when you see those. One of the key characters is also from the previous game and you will actually be pretty lost about why he's so important if you didn't play the first Crysis.

No, if that was an issue EA would of ported Crysis one over to consoles.

yeah i was hoping that. however, from the post above you, it seems like there is some references to the first game.

Crysis 1 can't be ported over to consoles. It's far more demanding than Crysis 2. Crytek's CEO has even been on record as saying that Crysis 1 could never be ported over to consoles without practically making it into a new game to compensate for the lack of RAM in the PS3 and X360 (hence why Crysis 2's gameplay and setting are so different from Crysis).

No infact this is not the best place to ask this question as many havent played the original crysis. I did about 4 times, and let me tell you it's like a fresh start, New character etc. Only small flashbacks from previous game.

Which kinda of pissed me off because if you played the 1st one you are left wondering what happened with the other characters like WTF?!

Also not much explanation of the storyline is not deep at all.

If you're worried or get confused, you can always read about the plot of the original Crysis on Wikipedia or elsewhere.
