It depend on what you dont like about Oblivion?.
If you didn't like the fact that it was swords and magic fighting then you will be happy to know that Fallout uses a selection of guns.
Some people dont like the size and open world feel of oblivion but i think Fallout will have the same open world feel and have a massive world to play.
So what dont you like about Oblivion as am not a mind reader.
i heard that there won't be a demo because of the size of the game world, when Fallout 3 comes out just rent it that's my solution to your problemI'd wait until there is a demo out to really tell if I were you (if there is going to be one). But from what they said at E3, Oblivion does have some influence on this game. But it's too early to really tell if you're going to like it and buy.

I hope people would. Fallout 3 better not be like Oblivion or Fallout fans are going to be pissed. Fallout needs an interesting world with interesting characters and many different ways to deal with people and missions, Oblivion, didn't have that.

Fallout should be the same (hopefully the big open world will have some interesting stuff in it), in the past it always started you in an area and when you go to the world map you have to find the cities, with some random encounters on the way. Fallout 3 should be somewhat like that and somewhat like Oblivion, at E3 they said that once you find a city you will be able to fast travel to it. I don't know if it will still have random encounters, some with enemies and some with NPC if it is like the old Fallout.

Lmao a demo for fallout 3 how could that ever be possible, think before you post.
Just rent it, if you hate rpg's all together then do not even bother, but if you liked mass affect more than likely you will like this.
that might sound like a stupid quesiton, but even though they are made by the same ppl, is there any reason that i might still like fallout 3. i dont want to make the same mistake twice...haven79
Fallout 3 is basically going to be Oblivion with guns.
It depends on what aspects of Oblivion you didn't like, but considering it will largely be the same game, then chances are it won't be your sort of game

Hey Sally, read before you post. He clearly identified the unlikely prospect of a demo in these neat little things called brackets. No need to jump all over him.
Also it's Mass Effect, not affect.
TC: Fallout 3 should be plenty different than Oblivion thanks to guns, and a more modern setting.
My advice would be to wait until after the game comes out and a few reviews are published. Don't believe the hype too much and don't rush in to the nearest shop and buy it. If you do that, you could be in for a nasty surprise.
If you assume that every mainstream game is going to be rubbish, there is no way you can be disappointed:lol:
How the hell are we suppose to know? We haven't played the game. Jeez, some people here are desperate to make threads, wondering whether they just have to buy a game that doesn't comes out for 3 months.BlueTimber
hmm. go stand in front of oncomming traffic.
i ask because a lot of ppl here know a lot about oblivion, and im sure that fallout 3 is very intresting to them. they probably know more than me at this point. i didnt like oblivion because it was boring for me. everything was too spread out.
please dont post stuff if its just going to be ignorant.
Well i will tell you i loved Oblivion and kno a bunch of people that did as well, but when E3 came around and we all tha gameplay footage the game didnt like a thing like a oblivion. I still think this game looks amazing and will with out a doubt be picking it up, but some of my friends were very standoffish about it and i dont think they will be getting. On the other hand i have several friends who said Oblivion just wasnt their type of game now say Fallout3 looks amazing.
So....i would say wait for the demo, but if you think about it there probably wont be one. I would wait till the game comes out see if any of ur friends who didnt think Oblivion was one of the greatest games ever created (like i did) and see what they think about it. If it comes down to it you could try renting it when time comes.
Coming from meh I loved Oblivion, but I just think this game is targeted at a different audience. If this game ends up being good i would give it a shot.

You're expecting opinions based on what? The fact that we've seen a trailer full of fighting clips and 30 min hands on previews? There is no way anyone is gonna give you a worthwhile opinion, how about wating the 3 months until it comes out?

Gameplay wise, probably not. They'll definately be similar styles. Stories are completely different, and Bethesda probably learned their lesson and hired both better and more voice actors this time around, so you never know.
The Elder Scrolls IV is the best game in video game history, is worth of any penny. And beyond the game or genre, it is a standard of quality for new games to come.
Until now there is no other game that can match TESIV, and only Bethesda could make that happen.
If you say that you HATED Oblivion, i think you have a second chance to enjoy a new awesome RPG with Fallout 3 or watch it pass :).
Learn how to play games like Morrowind or Oblivion, takes time. And you need plenty free time, but its incredible.
Buy it, try it, if you dont like it, there is gonna be much ppl for sell it.
I haven't played Oblivion but im gonna definitely buy Fallout 3.

I hated Oblivion but I'm definitely going to buy Fallout 3. To the TC, I'm positive that you'll like Fallout 3 even though you didnt like Oblivion, they're different games. Sure it's the same developer, but it's a different universe and the gameplay is different as well.
My question is...How could you hate oblivion?Nellzorz
People tend to have different preferences. Also, he did say his reasons saying that the game was "too spread out" and "boring". I myself loved Oblivion and is in my list of top games, but some people don't get it. the only downpoint I found were the lack of voice actors.

HAHAHAHAHAHHA you would be fresh meat for the guys at the Fallout 3 PC board, ahh you just made my day.
HAHAHAHA yeah im sure Oblivion is the best game in "teh" industry, just like FF7 has the best story ever seen.
Notice the sarcasm.
I don't see the big deal with oblivion. I tried to get into that game like 5 times and failed miserably each time. It just feels too big and yeah, boring. I followed the story mode all the way to shortly after the second gate each time and honestly I couldnt stand any moment of it. The combat itself was nice, the spellcasting and melee swinging, its just...it took me so long to progress any of the story, which wasn't that interesting to begin with, that I found myself losing interest rather quick. Also it felt like there was no direction in the game. It was just too 'sandbox' for my style, I guess. Which is also the main reason I could never get into the GTA series either. Some sandbox is fine, but when you have a world like oblivion it feels alittle too overwhelming for some people, especially those of us who are used to mostly-linear RPGs with characters and a story backbone. Oblivion seperates itself from the RPG crowd by offering combat and sandboxing over characters and story.
I really, really hope that Fallout 3 doesnt follow the same path as Oblivion. Unfortunatly, it most likely will. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll throw in character depth and a good story line. I wouldnt mind sandboxing really if the story was good enough. I'll be giving Fallout 3 a shot.

Too bad there will not be a demo released before game shipment, and yes there is proof on the Fallout 3 website.
but to answer your question, i would have to know what other games you like to tell. Some call Fallout 3 Oblivion with guns, but what you need to do it read about this game at http://fallout.bethsoft.com/index.html all of your questions will be answered there.

if all you have seen and or even heard of Fallout 3 is just the trailers then you must not be interested or know anything at all with Fallout 3, nor are you worthy with helping anyone with questions on the game. Go read the forums or the website on Fallout 3 at the website...it will tell you everything you need to know. Or you could just ask me, i am dying for this game and read everything about it DAILY.
