Will I lose any picture quality if I switch from SCART to AV?

I have an Xbox 360, with a SCART cable that has an optical socket for my Dolby Digital surround sound. I was considering buying the official Xbox 360 High Definition Component AV cable to use instead, because it's more convenient for me to use the spare AV socket on the TV rather than switching SCART cables all the time. I have a standard TV, but it says it works with both HD and SD TV's. But I was wondering, would I lose any picture quality switching from SCART to AV?

I think you might be right. I don't know for sure though, even searching online I haven't found an answer.

True RGB SCART is the best image quality you can get on an SDtv. the component cable will only deliver a composite video image to an SDtv

Yes. SCART has S-video quality which is a step-up than AV cables.

I'm talking about AV cables in terms of the white/red/yellow connectors. The ones which you can plug into SCART converters (although I can't see a SCART to AV adaptor)
