What do you guys think? 3 months from now will anybody still be playing it?

I hope it doesn't go the way of TF2.

I'd gove it 5 months. There are too many decent online games. You could almost say an over-saturation? I remember the day when EVERYONE was playing Perfect Dark Zero and COD 2. Because those where the the only good online ones at the time. lol

Yea, I love it...it's just that there's only 4 scenarios...only 2 of those are available in versus. And there's nothing to unlock, no real progression.

I worry that there will be a community for it a few months down the road. I would feel much better about the game if it was 40$. Sure everythings greatly replayable, but what's there is really not worth 60$.

I'm gonig to say yes, it will be around for awhile. I'm a huge CS/CSS junkie and L4D has that same pick up and play feel that's really addicting. I can't wait to pick it up! I just don't have the money right now. :(

I get the feeling that while it is fun, it will get repetitive quickly and the online side will die out relatively fast. 4 campaigns really isn't a lot to sustain online for a game, and while it is broken up into different maps, because they are so short to complete it feels like 4 levels that happen to have load points part way through. It will need more content, and that is something Valve have been very bad for on consoles (TF2).

I played the demo and initially was really tempted to rush out and buy it, but after replaying the campaign a few more times it was already starting to feel a bit boring. How fun the game is depends strongly on the group you are with, and as one game had two people constantly trying to kill each other rather than the zombies, and another had one guy just run ahead and get himself killed it highlighted a weakness of team-based coop games - that the people are the weak point.

I can see this easily falling into the "other shooter" category, where games are fun for a few months, then are all but forgotten by most people as they move on to other shooters, or back to the AAA shooters. Launching at the same time as Gears 2 and COD WaW is awful timing to release a game, let alone a shooter. It won't get the initial size of community it deserves, and small communities always die out

Left4Dead has the highest replay value this gen.

The AI director makes it differnt everytime.

Its alot alot of fun on coop with some friends!
Game of the year and a MUST BUY!!!!

The gameplay destroys that of cod4 and cod WA.

left4Dead will be around for years and years, no worries.

The game hasnt gotten a score below a 9/10 which is very good imo.

Why dont you guys actaully try the full version before talking trash?

  • G4TV: 5/5
  • 1up: A-
  • Giant Bomb: 4/5
  • Game Infromer: 9.25
  • IGN = 9/10
  • Edge = 9/10
  • OXM = 9.5/10

The game is receiving high scores due to being a relatively new idea. 4 player co-op hasn't been done much yet, so any game boasting it will receive some points for it. The idea of 4 people HAVING to work together is a new one. That's just about the only reason why the game is getting the high scores. Innovation.

Definitely not Game of the Year material. The storyline is not fleshed out enough. There's barely any progression. It's a very arcade-feeling game.

To say the gameplay destroys that of COD is your opinion...and not a very good one, at that. To say a straight point and shoot game with a 5 year old engine destroys that of last year's GOTY is crazy. So while your opinion is valid, I kindly disagree. The game is FUN, yes. But the GAMEPLAY is overly SIMPLE.

This game is great for a couple reasons. It's fun. It's co-op, and it's killing zombies.

If you're saying this game is the best thing ever, you're delusional. It's good. It's fun. That's it.

Yes but you got in on PC. PC community will always stay alive for a Valve game with Mods and Valve on their side. I doubt the 360 will see any new content in the game, and as it stands now, I don't even feel like it's worth the 60$. Don't get me wrong I love it, I just think it will be short lived.

You just where talking about OPINIONS and then you say my opinion isnt a very good one. Your a joke if your think your opinion is better then everyoen esles.

IN MY OPINION its GOTY, IN MY OPINION its miles better then cod.

Just like your opinion is differnt, learn to relize that everyone has there own opinion and YOURS isnt always the correct one.

Did you even read what you posted? What a joke

"To say the gameplay destroys that of COD is your opinion...and not a very good one, at that."

^ Thats almost sig worthy because its so ridicolous. How on earth can someones personal opinion be NOT A VERY GOOD ONE? haha

thanks for the laugh though

In my PERSONAL OPINION, its the best online game this gen, destorys every other online game. And just because me and you have differnt opinions, doesnt mean im going to call your  opinion "NOT A VERY GOOD OPINION"

there should have been at least an online leaderboard, rankings or stat-tracking. Something as an incentive to keep playing. The multiplayer is fun, but i'd like to keep track of my kills, headshots etc...

For sure. This game was built for replayability.
