probably not because it's big, gears of war was small and dark. I was never really impressed by GoW graphics actually.. it's just dark, shiny, and things like gun models and character's hair just looked 2d-ish and muddy.
and even if a game has better graphics, it's a known fact by many people that gears of war is better than anything in everyway so it's impossible.ag1002
beauty is in the eye of the beholder. your right that the graphics were just shiny, the game was very short so it could focus on its graphics more, but ME is huge and still looks like it will beat gears in graphics and gameplay.... and im a huge gears fan.
mass Effect its a FPS with a combination or RPG...looks nice but... dont have the magic of Gears of wars... maybe the mass effect can be on of the best games of the 360 but i dont think he gonna be "the best of all"
It's really all about the overall presentation for me, not just the technical aspects of graphics. Sure a game can have sharp textures and nice bump mapping ect. but if the environments are poorly constructed and unrealistic it doesn't matter how good the graphics are. Quantity of graphical effects (less than) quality of graphical effects.
That being said I think Mass Effect would have it's work cut out for it creating as immersive and beautiful environments as Gears. But it'll shape up nicely I'm sure.

Gears has amazing character models... but i thought their environments were bland at best. nothing more than retangular objects to take cover, not to mention that its environments were small and looked pretty similar.
ME looks to be a huge environment, and its character models look very well done. if anything, ME is just suffering from the uncanny valley (their eyes look a little bugged out IMO).

From what ive seen so far of Mass Effect, I think it looks better than Gears graphically. Especially the character models. But cant always go just on gameplay videos, will have to wait until it is in our hands to pass a proper judgement. Even then, some people may just like the art style in 1 game more than the other.

In my opinion Mass Effect will look much better than Gears. A lot of games look better than Gears. It's all about art style and the art in Gears is just dark and muddy looking. People see dark, shiny graphics just like Doom 3 and Far Cry a few years back and they're blown away. I prefer games like Half-Life 2 which look more realistic or Okami which has amazing art.
"Best graphics" can mean different things to different people. A lot of people like the cell shaded/comic book style of graphics, which can be done very well already. Others like the more realistic look, which can still drastically be improved upon.
Even if both games go for realism, there are different details that different people may like.An exampleis the 'faded' colors look that Gears has to give it that gritty feel.
So it really depends on the person's personal taste.
