Poll Will Microsoft's XBox One servers hold up in great fashion for tomorrows world wide console release? (17 votes)

Yes, 300,000 servers will hold up quit strong actually 59%
Maybe, there could be just too many people trying to grab that day one patch 24%
No, there will be too many people for the day one patch downloading at once... 300k pssssh yea right 18%

Ok so remember the whole cloud computing and 300,000 servers thing.

Well, tomorrow is going to be put up or shut up for the initial server strain test.

Now, Sony had day one perhaps day two lag and since then I think things have normalized. But, to be fair Sony didn't say they have 300,000 servers handling the system...

So, What do you think? Will XBox have any lag or server strain on day one?

Now, to me the stakes are high for XBox to come about this the right way. Why? Because if they go through the initial launch period without a single hiccup in respects to server strain and network lag time then I would say that is a major victory for Microsoft. And... And, it means the 300,000 server thing might have some teach to it.

Also, it is important to remember that what I am saying regarding 300k servers and the day one patch might not be really related to each other but in my humble opinion they do.

Again, if they are touting this whole cloud processing and computing thing then what a way to show competence then right out of the gate. Moreover, perhaps the public would start to believe that cloud computing might be a real and viable "thing" in the future.

If successful, and this is a big if, this could prove a crushing blow to Sony in the new console wars.

We shall see very soon.

I was impressed at how in-depth everything was with covering both the PS4 and Xbox One. It was enough for most gamers to make a clear decision really early which one they wanted aside of their own preference. I don't think that the Xbox One going through smooth would impact the decision making that much. On another note, it would be really nice if that did happen.

People laughed when PSN went down under the load of launch day and said that it wouldn't happen to XBL because it's a superior service, yet here I am just home from work and XBL is down. Not so superior I guess. Even Xbox.com is down lol.

I can't access most features on my Xbone and at the right side of the screen is a message "Having trouble connecting? It may be a problem on our side. We are working on it."

So far it has all been quite underwhelming.

@christianrho: Yeah I got it last night at a midnight launch, came home and set it all up then downloaded the 500MB day one update without problem, which surprisingly only took not much more than five minutes. Downloaded a few apps and pinned them in the menu, searched the store, run some apps then started downloading the Forza 5 compulsory update, which was just a small 6GB then went to bed.

Got home from work an hour ago and couldn't access any of my pins or the store so I turned it off for a while.

Just turned it back on now and everything seems to be back as it's supposed to be and Xbox.com is operational as well. Let's hope it stays that way but there is going to be a huge amount of downloading over the next 24 hours so there might be a few more glitches yet.

Forza awaits me ;)

It shouldn't take long to download the patch. Microsoft has millions of square feet worth of additional servers that they could add to the mix if they really needed to...

We're not talking PSN here guys. If Sony could hold up then Xbox Live should be able to. I still picture Sony's server farm looking more like a back yard garden. Two dudes wandering through with flashlights looking for guys trying to steal the credit cards!

I have zero issues with the servers so far. Day 1 update took around 5 min. Boought 5 games from the marketplace, games are pretty big over 30gb each so it takes a while to download but at around 12% progress I am able to run Forza 5.....those graphics....damn they are nice.

@Alucard_Prime: Going full on digital, eh? But yeah, XBL is running great. It's usually super slick and stable, except for that one time from Christmas 2007 through to early January when it ran like ass for weeks, but that was because COD4 Modern Warfare and Halo 3 came out at the same time and all the kids opening those games as gifts and getting online all at once wrecked it.

No issues on XBL, had only a couple hiccups last weekend with PS4 when I got that at launch. All in all I knew PSN was going down at some point, I also expected (in the US at least) that XBL would not go down which I have not had any issues with and the bulk of the server load I think is now over until Thanksgiving/Christmas time when everyone is off work.

Yeah I remember that, XBL definitely had some hickups in its earlier years. Very happy with today's events. Setting up the machine was such a piece of cake.

Servers didn't go down. Anyone saying it did is a troll or their internet was down. I'm so blown away by this console.

Don't be so naive and stupid. I'd be surprised if a new electronic device was released and didn't have some sort of small hitch/and or glitch. No need to be accusing anyone of anything.

I'm just saying it didn't go down, I got mine at midnight and played till 5am then from 10am-2:30pm and 6pm-10pm. Servers were never down. So I guess there are a few gaps that it could have gone down but it's not been reported by anyone but that guy.

Glad to see XBox One is off to a smooth launch. This makes me happy and confident in MS's networks assigned to the Xbox One. Great things to come next. TitanFall and Halo 5.
