Well i just bought a broken xbox off of ebay for $45 and i was going to send it in to have it fixed or whatever, I go to take off the face plate and the xbox seal is broken so the guy who had this must have opened it and tried to fix it, but anyway will MS still fix the xbox if it has been opened?

I think so, they will probably make you pay though. As far as I know, all opening the box does is void the warranty.

unless if it's not tampered(meaning the same 360 you'd buy in a store) and you tell them how or why it's broken then yes they will but they will charge you. I'm getting charged $20 because my stupid xbox messes up my games. Seriously I'm really close to buying a ps3 and Gears is the only thing holding me back.

Breaking the Seal voids the warranty. If you send it in to get fixed, it will cost you money. But, it's still probably better than buying an Xbox new.

Yeah it only voids the warranty, just pay and they'll fix it, in the end it's a good deal on ur part.

Edit: That vid was not funny to me, racial comedy can be funny if it's done well, that was not.

okay I know this for a fact. MS will NOT repair your xbox if it's been opened even if you pay. They will just return it to you and send it with a note saying that it's been tampered with and they will not repair it. So why would you buy a broken xbox on ebay? that's just silly.

...and the cyclical nature of unethical private gray market commerce continues. You should attempt to sell it on Amazon.com (rather than at auction) and note the condition of the unit, because there are many people who CAN repair a video game console without sending it back to the manufacturer, especially an MS console. It's probably that you wont recoup all your losses. Capital or ethics?

They may charge you for it. That voids any and all warranties.

i live in holland and send my 360 to microsoft. The 360 that i send was open and yes they fixed my 360. So yes jus try to send it but dont tell on he phone that the xbox was already open. If they say you that the 360 was banned, put another case around your 360 so you have another code to give to microsoft. That will do it im very sure.

If you know anyone that works at an electronics store or a gamestop or something, see if they can swap it out for you.

True, my personal console I bought in pieces for about $220USD, with a bad DVD drive, fixed it my self with no extra cost. Bought another one for $150 with RROD that I knew had been opened, and I fixed it my self. TC, I'll even buy that from you for that price if you're willing.

EDIT; I don't see the video link in your sig, did 'that' happen? Also, you did get a 360 and not the original xbox, right?
