I am just a casual gamer, I don't play online, at all, zero. I never save seasons for sports games, I only play random games from time to time, and I mostly play singleplayer affairs like Resident Evil, Metal Gear, Halo, Ghost Recon, etc. Is the Arcade System perfect for that type of gaming and does the memory card sufficient to hold saves for a few games of those types?

Also, are the newer systems now coming with this new Jasper motherboard / chipset yet? I obviously want the most recent, reliable system I can get, thanks all.

I've been sitting on this $300 Gamestop Edge card and have been leaning towards an Xbox for awhile, just trying to decide, thanks again.

Yes, it will be just fine for you. Game saves only take up a few megabytes, and for those games like Halo 3, where you can save screenshots, you'll be fine, seeing as a screenshot is not even a megabyte. Even, if you do decide to get Live, you'll still be okay, just you won't be able to download free maps, etc.

For someone who doesn't play a lot of games, the arcade will be perfect for you. And the last time I checked, the Jasper motherboard was supposed to be in production as of last month. But of course, Microsoft doesn't announce this kind of stuff, so just wait a couple of months before buying an arcade. Or until a some guy opens his new 360 and confirms that the new motherboard is here. Whichever comes first.

the arcade will not suit anyone. you can't play halo online because you won't be able to download the free extra maps. so the arcade is useless.

For someone that genuinely has no intention of going on Live or downloading anything, the real question you should ask yourself is do you want to play in HD or standard def?

If you buy the Arcade it does not come with cables to display HD, so you will need to buy these separately, either 360 component or an HDMI cable. I don't know what price the consoles/cables are in your country, but by the time you add the cost of the cables to the Arcade cost, you probably aren't much short of the cost of the Pro.

So for a very little extra you get a lot more storage space (20GB or 60GB), HD cables (included with Pro), ethernet cable and a headset. The extra storage is more than worth the extra, but you only realise how vital a harddrive becomes once you own it.

The Pro really is the best version to get for just about everyone

All 360's right now are currently using the Falcon chipset, Jasper isn't out yet.

If you decide down the road that you want a hard drive, the 20 GB's are going for $20 on eBay... no big deal.

you will never run out of memory on a memory card if you never take your xbox 360 on-line.

although Xbox on-line is so much more fun than xbox off-line, to the extent owning a xbox with no live feels like a huge waste.
