I think that Mass Effect will take Halo's place for a little bit,however long it takes for Halo 3 to come out,and then Halo 3 will push ME out of the way and spit in its face.
it'll be on the same system, and it'll be the next halo. if you dont think there will be a halo4 you're lying to yourself. there is no way ms walks away from that much money, and i dont mean halo wars.

I agree. Opinions are that...Just Opinion. heres mine. Halo is ok but in my mind there have already been Halo Killers. Why is it that people think halo is like the greatest FPS of all time or first great GAME for that matter? Halo is good, but I will take Gears, Resistance, or CoD2 over Halo any day. I had Halo1 and 2. 1 was great and 2 was maybe equal but not better than one.

Halo is ok but its not like the greatest thing since sliced bread. Its a Sci-Fi FPS......thats it. Great game but not the best. The reason why Halo is better than all of those games, including Gears is that it has a Biblical theme. It brings a sense of legitimacy to the game. Gears comes very close and even has some Biblical elements. Of course, Halo has more than a theme. Like Gears, big money and time was spent on making the game great, too.
Not as long as there are still Halo games (namely first person shooters) being released. After Halo 3 has passed, maybe we'll see another series rise up and take on a similar status, but that might be quite a while.Â
I really hate seeing so many people love these games, I did not see anything special with them when I played it. The guns in Halo 2 are so generic and alot of them are extremely boring to shoot with. Driving some sort of vehicle doesnt have its fun factor, and some of the enemies look like they have just been born. Thats only in about the first 4 levels, but a game that I cant get into in 4 levels is a flop to me. I just never got excited playing it. I know I seem really offensive but I cannot see what other people are seeing in this game. If you want something positive I think about this game, great graphics for the Xbox, better than most other shooters in the current gen.
And no, the only way Halo can be killed is Halo itself. Even GTA cant hold a candle to it.
The only way I can think of killing a game is by making it repetitive and the only company that can do that is that company itself. Do we see any Mario killer? No and its because Nintendo knows how to make a good Mario no matter how many Sonics,Daxter,Ratchets,and Crash games they make the same goes to Halo or some other good Shooter.

So basically theres yet to be a Mario killer. Hard to beat that little plumber. Anyway, I think what we mean by "Halo Killer" is this...what game (a shooter in this case) will be considered the best of its genre. Right now its Halo, tomorrow it will be Gears 2. This killer title was also given to NFL2K until EA bought the NFL out. Nice move by EA, 2Ksports was coming strong. Of course, the gamers lost on that one..no more competition.
Who cares? If you like Halo, Play it, If you don't , Don't play it, with every going "lol this g4me iz Da Halo K1ll3r for sure!11!!!!!!1111!!!" It would seem everyone Wants Halo to be "Killed"
I think there won't be one. When halo 3 launches the online will probably be way ahead of competition again. It would maybe take at least a year again before a better game comes. By then halo is already ended so no need to kill it anymore. Also it will stay most popular.

Gears is also pretty much run 'n gun. Or you can also say walk 'n shotgun. The gameplay for that game got pretty messed up in the multiplayer as well as the online setup. Halo 3 online will stampede over gears of war online and act like it never existed.
yes halo 3 will be the halo killer, because once people get it they will realize that its pretty much the same thing as halo 2 which people got bored of. and they will move to UT3 or shadowrun. just a guess :)

halo killer isnt the word .... i bet crysis will be the video game killer period halo is like a sega genesis to a 360 game compared to crysis ... and gears was a way better game then halo 1 and 2 so i dont know wat these games think nowadays gears was way more interesting in single player then the halo franchise .... this is my opinion
don't you mean "will there ever be a gears of war killer?" I'm sorry but gears of war is probably one of my favorite mp games ever. The consequence for dying on gears gets you really into the game.
NO SUCH THING. plus GTA 4 could never beat it (totally different game). Killzone (Unlikely). Gears of War 2 (No way have you played the first games multiplayer)
There will be a Halo killer but not for a long time. Think about it when ever has a game store opened early so people could get a copy of what we have dubbed the greatest game ever.
I don't get what's so fantastic about it to begin with. Not to say that it isn't a very good game (it IS), but it's not any more than that. Don't overdo it.

I love gears,but its multiplayer sucks in comparison to halo's. Bungie already stated that what they have for multiplayer both online wise as well as options available will be years ahead of everyone else.
