If i take a USB flash drive, put some music from Itunes on it(will that work), and then can i plug it into my 360 and then move that onto my HDD? And, what cables to I need to connect my 360 to my PC?

I'm pretty sure you can't transfer anything to the 360 HD unless it is ripping from a CD. If you hook up your 360 to a PC, you can only stream things from it, not actually move anything onto the 360 HD, I know that for sure. It is most likely the same thing with a USB digital music player.
Wait wait wait... Does that mean I can put all of my music onto an external hard drive and just plug that into my 360 and I'd be able to play songs off of that in the background while gaming? How about if I just put a bunch of MP3's on my iPod and plug that into it? (the MP3's on the iPod would NOT be in the iPod format)
Can you switch between songs just as you would with the normal 360 player? I'm really interested in this now, because that would mean I could delete all my music on my 360. (not much, but I only have a 20gb and every bit counts).
Yes, if you put MP3's on your iPod and plug that into your 360, you can play them. With my iPod, I noticed that half of my music wasn't being found. That was because that was all the stuff I downloaded from iTunes. Yes, you can play the music off of your external HD just as you do on your console. Background music for games, etc. Whenever you browse your music or videos or pictures, you always have the option to choose the storage device. Without thinking you probably always pick your console's HDD and justifiably so. But when you plug in your external HD, you'll have another option light up "Portable Device." Go there and you can browse your folders and play your music or videos or view your pictures. Here's another tip. If you have a PC and set your share settings in Media player to share with your Xbox 360 you can share your Music and videos directly from your PC. They both have to be on the same network though. When you select your storage device on your 360 to browse for movies, music, etc, you'll have your computer available on the list. You have to place your media files in your public folders. Say for Vista, it would be somewhere like C:\Users\Public\Videos. EDIT: For sharing media from your PC, you don't have to go through "Media Center" at all. That whole setup process is a pain in the ass and it doesn't always work. Go to Media Player, go to Options and click on the Library tab. Click on the "Configure Sharing" button and you should see your 360 listed there. Enable sharing with your 360 and you're all set. Remember, they both have to be on the same network for this to work though.Wait wait wait... By "sharing" do you mean streaming? Or do you mean actually transferring the data, so that when I unplug the connection it would still be on my 360 HD?
I've never messed around with portable devices, as you can tell, lol.
Yes, when sharing media from your PC, you are streaming it over your network. But there's no lag or anything. When playing media from an external HD or even a thumb drive, it's just going over USB. There's no moving data to your Xbox 360 HDD.By "sharing" do you mean streaming? Or do you mean actually transferring the data, so that when I unplug the connection it would still be on my 360 HD?

Cool, thanks for all the info! This will help out my hard drive a bunch! Oh... one more question... If I have an Arcade game like DOOM on my HD, can I delete it and download it again whenever I want to?
Yes. Anything you've purchased from Xbox Live, you can DL again whenever. You've already paid for it. As long as you're signed in under your Live account, anything you've purchased is on record. You'll have the option to "DL again" without paying for it again, of course. You can't play games off of your external HD if that's what you're asking.Cool, thanks for all the info! No no, I'm just trying to free up more HD space. I've got like 10gb's worth of Rock Band songs on there and my hard drive is getting quite full (20gb version). Gotta cut the line on some of the dead weight on the HD, and being able to get rid of Arcade games will help since I can get them again if I ever feel like playing them.
Thanks again for all the help. Maybe we'll play online sometime. Bad Company maybe? lol That's the game I'm into right now.

Hey, I just wanted to let you guys know that the 360 can play iTunes files, you just need to download a 5mb media player update.
I don't know if the update is recent or what, but afterwards I was listening to iTunes files this weekend (not MP3's) from my iPod.
Where is this media player update? An update on the console? You aren't talking about the compatibility file for iPod support are you?Hey, I just wanted to let you guys know that the 360 can play iTunes files, you just need to download a 5mb media player update.
