so I'm buying a wireless adapter for my 360 and this linksys wireless router from best buy, and am wondering how well it will work

Buy it if your ethernet cable isnt long enough to connect to your modem. It will work well.

That sounds like a fine set-up. I've had good experience with Linksys and I haven't heard anything bad about the wireless router.
