Epic plans on introducing some female characters into the mix in Gears 2 but not into Delta Squad and since the game is based around Delta Squad and you play the role of Marcus Fenix (or Dominic Santiago in co-op) no you won't play as a female in the campaign. Whether or not Epic gives you the opporunity to play as a female CoG in online play is another question. It is unlikly but not confirmed yet so there could be hope for female gamers or guys who just like pretending they are girls in online environments...
