If you're thinking of getting the premium 360, then you might as well shell out the extra bucks (~$80)Â to get the ELITE with a bigger hard drive and HDMI.
i have a white 360 right now but my stepdad is buying an elite and were going to keep both one in one room the other in another room but if i didn't have a 360 it would depend on how much money i had the at time more in likely the elite though
I really dont care if its black or not. For $80 bucks I will go for the significantly larger HD, and the HDMI port. Once it comes out I will probably try to unload my 360 and get the premium one. I would really like for them to release a Black HD-DVD component though so everything matches at least. The XBox Live video service is pretty bad ass, they just need to add more movies to the lineup. There have been at least 2 movies they had on their service that were only available on BluRay.
I already have the Premium If I didn't then I would prolly get the black. I will however get a black controller. no New HDD for me until I have no more room and forced to upgrade.
I don't have a 1080p TV, put skins on my 360 and use an XCM HD adapter and a 250g external for my 360 HD so no. :P and my HD will still be twice as big. hehe
I wouldnt ever buy the black - i think its a big rip off - and actually I think I prefer the basic PS3 - yes I know system wars. But anyways wouldnt get the PS3 either. The 360 will have the better games - thats what I care about. Now Im pissed with M$ - not for the black or not lowering prices or whatever - but for making Oblivion fans have to download the expansion from live for $30, now if I want to play it on a different 360, I cant. It sucks. But whatever - its business.

I will definately be getting the BLACK! It looks sexier haha. reminds me of the first xbox's colors except for being in that old big box shape, which is good. Black and the neon green....TRUE XBOX COLORS! I used to have a 360 when it first came out but sold it like a year ago and good thing i did cause now i'll definately be getting the new black one!

The TV and DVD player are both chrome/silver colored so I suppose that matches both the white and black console because both models have chrome trim. I also have a silver PS2 and a Wii in that cabinet, so it just seems like the white would match that a little better.
Now that I think about it my original xbox is the only black colored component I have left. :)
I like the white, it looks sleek and clean, like an iPod. I'm more for components looking pretty, soft, curved, than being shiny or black holes.
However my HDTV is black and silver - and the black / chrome 360 will actually match nicely. Once I remove the speaker bar from the bottom of my HDTV (when I get my sound system) my setup will actually look pretty wicked.
I'm thinking about getting the Elite. Microsoft has made it clear - you're not ever going to need more than the 20gb hard drive for anything, but I worry about not having enough space.
If you ask me this is just another smart move by microsoft...smart in the sense that they will make people think that the Premium 360 is inferior to the Elite, not so smart in a way that people will feel pressured into buying one just because its new and premium 360's feel "stock".

in answer to your question, no, i have no need for so much memory or the HD components. if it ever should arise that i run out of memory then i would take my account from my old hardrive using a memory unit and sell my 360 to my local game store and pay the extra amount towards the elite. But i still have 12gb left and i got a tonne of stuff on my hard drive.
White actually looks pretty good on the 360. Its grown on me though I disliked it at first. I would though buy an elite in black if I were buying a new console, it doesnt'bug me much what the console looks like I'm mostly concerned with power/features and games
quick question for those thinking of upgrading to elite, how are you gonna transfer all your saves from your current harddrive. And personally i think microsoft should have some sort of trade in program or something for those who want to upgrade, if not for everyone then at least for those who bought at launch
Well, if you're asking if I would buy a white standard premium pack 360 over the elite, then my answer would be No. I'm going to upgrade to an elite when it comes out, but not just for the color. The color is just a plus (although, I must admit that i think the color white is beautiful on the 360,) I think it would be cool to see a white 360 vs a black 360. Just like the slim ps2s that are black vs the silver PS2's. The silver ones just look cooler....But i'm going to upgradfe because of the new HDMI, bigger hard drive, and a new color ; black.
