My old one crapped out, and I'm looking into getting a new headset. The wired ones obviously have reliability issues, but the wireless ones kind of cramp my ears. Which one should I go for?

Fab your userpic is awesome.

And TC, I say go for what is more comfortable to you; if the wireless headset pinches and you wear it for long period it will hurt, and why would you want to hurt?

Perhaps it would be more helpful to tell him why before he spends his money? :?

I had a similar problem--liked the feel of the wired headset but shared the same issues with reliability. I bought the wireless one but found it brutally uncomfortable. What I did (although I wouldn't necessarily recommend this) is basically mated the two headsets to make some kind of hybrid super-headset.

I took off the boom from the broken wired one and glued the wireless one to the base of the headband (after ripping off the terrible ear-mangling black rubber thing). This took a whole bunch of glue-gun glue but after it dried it worked really well. It helps too if you use the foam padding from the wired one to make it extra comfy.

Not sure if this is the solution for you but it worked pretty well for me

could you post a picture of your creation? I'd love to see it... I've had my wired headset for almost two years now and it's still working... although it took some beating while I was playing COD4 ;)

I also like the look of the Wireless headset but there are two problems with it for me:

1. You can only get them in white so it won't match my Elite

2. They are too expensive (£34.99) which is the price of a game

I get a lot of interference when using the wireless headset and the range on that thing is extremely short. So I rather use the wired headset even though I've gone through at least 8 of them in 4 years.

Which wireless headsets are you referring to? I wasn't aware of any other than the ones from www.turtlebeach.com. Does Microsoft make one too?

Yeah my wirelss headset has had no problems, the only bad thing is you have to charge it once in a while! :P Oh but if you've got any peircings in your ear of choice recently be carful when puting on the headset/taking it off or it might hurt, i found out the hard way!

Meh, I'm sure wireless ones are "better" and more reliable, but I still have the wired one you get with the Xbox 360 from a few years back, and have yet to have a single problem out of it. If you're wanting the best though I'd go for a wireless.

I wouldnt say wireless is the best. Ill use my friend for example. Again, this is base on my experience so I dont want to hear "well, thats just you..". A couple of my friends have a wireless headset and have complained about it not staying on, poor connection, and the battery life. Theres also a lot of disconnections when they speak when using a wireless headset.
