I just setup my new Xbox 360 today and I put in the Wireless Network Adapter and no connection is shown. It detects the actual adapter but says I'm not connected to anything. On my PS3 and Wii I am easily connected to the wireless connection with full strength so my connection isn't the problem. Is there more than just connecting the adapter? Am I not doing enough? Anyone have the same problem? Thanks!

Hate to ask the obvious but did you actually try connecting to your wireless network in the network settings? You can't just plug it, as with every other wireless connection you have to input the settings not to mention selecting the network you want to connect to.

I'm pretty sure he knows that much, seeing as how he got the Wii and PS3 working. Do your network setup, put in your WEP key etc.

Also it seems that there is an outtage right now for XBL. This rarely happens, you just tried to connect at a bad time. Wait it out for now, it's normally back up pretty quickly.

If you're having trouble you can try using "windows connect now" to transfer your settings on to the 360 (google it). You'll only be able to get as far as "MTU" in the network test right now though, Xbox LIVE is down for today due to maintainence.

^like I stated I hate to state the obvious but had to at least ask as he said he only connected it and thats it

Also the Live outage will most likely be for the rest of the day (as Microsoft has already stated) so don't worry if it won't let you connect to live today.

EDIT: Go to network settings, wireless connections located on the system blade, automatic and that should search for your network then select it and put in the security code to connect to the network (considering you have one that is)

since your new to XBL and have not had the chance to actually read the updates yet I might as well help you.

Xbox Live is offline to everyone today to prep us for the New Xbox Experience that will be available in this years fall update, so servers went down 12am pacific this morning, and wont be back up til 12am pacific Tuesday "at the least".

So its not your 360 having probs connecting, its just the fact that Live is down for the day, just play some offline games today and try your luck tomorrow to get Live working, all I can say.

is the light on your adapter red? then that means you are ready to connect. you need to go to network settings on the dashboard, then go to edit settings. from there got to wireless mode. from there you should be able to find your wireless network, put in your SSID and all that from there.

He's lying lies!!! All you have to do is dance around your 360 in the backyard with a funny looking hat made out of newspaper for exactly 24 hours (24 hours is key along with the paper hat)....then xbox live will work.

Funny :P you forgot that smushing a banana on your 360 also works wonders :P
