i am looking to purchase a wireless router for the house. my current internet connecion is downstairs, and my xbox is upstairs in my room. i was thinking of using my lap top (while in my room) to recieve the wireless internet, and then connect my xbox to my lap top. i was wondering if any of you use a wireless router to play on live and if you would suggest any routers for me to use. also, are there any additional pieces of information i might need to make this setup possible? (i.e. will i need a router with a certain speed or a certain brand, ect..) thanks for any advice

I use a d link 615 which is wireless N. I have had no problems. The real cost is the adapter for the xbox itself if you do decide to get one. On the good side it is really easy to set up and works well. Hard to say with the laptop since I have not tried it and they tend not to have as good of a signal because of no external antenna.

I use the XBox 360 Wireless Adapter and it works great. My wireless router is on the other side of the apartment, so the signal travels through several walls and a closet. It's still a strong signal (my internet is Verizon FiOS).

I did use a wireless router, but then I got a new xbox 360 so all the settings reset. So I hooked my xbox 360 up to my laptop. The internet connection is just a little bite slower. You won't really noticed it though. I wish I had never bought a wireless router.

I've had decent results with my current wireless adapter... there's supposed to be a newer one coming out, right... and at a $100 premium. I'm unsure as to the compatibility of wireless-n with my current router setup, though.

Any insight?

I got the wireless N one. I got it for $99 but have seen it for $89 canadian. I was just going to buy the older one but I would alway second guess if it is working as good as the N one (OCD much?). It is compatible with the G and B and supports the better encryption. works great so far. I use both wired and wireless and can't tell the difference.
