Without getting halo 3, what makes the 360 worth it?

Oh, it's definitely worth getting a 360. Halo 3 is a good game, but in no way is it essential. You can get way better single player campaigns, and even the multi player can be replaced with games like Call of Duty 4 or Gears.

I would reccomend the Elite. It has 6 times as big a hard rive for only about $50-100 more. Xbox Live Silver is free, but you can't play online with it, so it's rather useless. Get Gold, it's only $60/year and well worth it.

So true. The Halo trilogy is just an extra reason why I'm getting a 360. I new that I HAD to have one when I first heard about Bioshock. Then there's also this little thing called Mass Effect, a short game called Oblivion, and the decent shooter that is Call of Duty 4 to keep you occupied. And if you can't get Halo because of an M rating, just don't get a 360. Period. And yes, I was being very sarcastic about all of the games above. Oblivion alone should be able to keep you busy for 60+ hours of gameplay, if you like RPG's.

if you want a 360 there are exclusive games that you just can't miss out on. those games are Halo3, gears, and mass effect

however, why can't you purchase halo? is it due to the violence?

There's also Forza 2 (sumulation racer). In fact i've seen a package in best buy that includes marvel U. Alliance and forza2 with the 360. not sure if it's the silver or gold package.

Mass Effect, if anything, dude. Call of Duty 4 is also a winner, along with Assassin's Creed. There's a ton more to come next year as well...I'm going to be watching the progress on Borderlands to see how that fares.
