Yeah, there's definitely some language in there, but I thought the game was awesome. Don't let the swearing prevent you from getting an amazing game. Granted, it's nowhere NEAR Kane and Lynch, but there are times when swearing is present. It's honestly not that bad, I didn't find it obtrusive or anything.
Granted, I also work in a plant with a bunch of other swear-happy dudes, so I guess my view might be a little skewed.
I'll never understand how mercilessly killing people in a game is perfectly fine but once the game starts dropping F bombs it crosses the line.

I agree. And someone mentioned on some other thread killing children npcs will be terrible, which I agree but killing adults is okay? In BioShock you kill those little girls and harvest them, is that okay? Granted you save some of them in the end, you still end up killing many more in the end. And how is profanity worst than all of this? It should be the least of your worries.
Sticks and stones...
so then why are you playing gears of war,Call of duty 4,and etc
its a game I can agree with when it gets over board and has you killing innocent people, really brutal like for instance I just couldnt play that old pc carmagedon. But I dont even mind gtabecause atleast its not ever really detailed or even bad.
srry if it dont make sense

Well, It's actually your choice in Bioshock, you could save all of them from the start if you wished. I think the reason the voilence isn't taken as bad as foul language is because the violence is usually very unrealistic, even in the games that bear the graphic violence rating (excluding games like gears of war of course). I dunno, parents for some reason believe that children are perfectly innocent and that them hearing bad language will all of a sudden turn them into anti-social f***tards, when really crap like The Pu$$Y Cat Dolls and all that on MTV have the potential to do much more damage.
guys guys the main reason is i sit near the TV (in the living room) so my chair pretty much obscures the picture and rarely is anyone watching me... but if it's constant F-bombs then my family probs wouldn't appreciate it.
So, as a above poster mentioned, please don't turn this into a debate about langauge in video games... anyone else have any other thoughts on the severity and frequency of the bad langauge in this game?
Thanks.
It might have to do with this:
Killing virtual people is kind of inoffensive and something that is relatively private when playing. Swearing on the other hand is something that happens in real life a lot more then killing and some people just take offense at it. In addition you might not like to swear and don't need to hear it. It is much easier to go out and swear then it is to kill someone, so in a sense cussing in games contributes to a real world problem (if you don't like using foul language) much more so then killing virtual people. Its easy to put the blame on the person and say that they should control there tongue, but if they keep hearing it over and over again then it facilitates using it. Maybe the topic creator just wants to enjoy the game but not have to worry about this influence. The topic creator also mentions that he doesn't mind some of the cuss words but the ones he does mind are the ones that you typically see people put down with in real life. I am not saying this is THE answer but it might have something to do with it.
Anyway just my two cents, and not a definitive answer by any means. Personally I don't like swearing in games because it is often overused and at times feel very forced.
