First Person means from a viewpoint of the eyes of the charactar, with the screen being their/your eyes. Gears of War technically falls in the 3rd person shooter category, but Cliffy describes the game as 2nd person due to the close up nature of the game, a la Resident Evil 4 and how attached you are with the charactar in a FPS sense but still with 3rd person mechanics.
Gears of War isn't an FPS in any sense and anyone who considers it such is either retarded or trying to throw it into the realm of FPSs to be compared.
I almost call it 2nd person (or easier Over the Shoulder) because this game is nothing like say.... StarWars Battlefront. I know those games are completely different styles of 3rd person, but by how different they can't really be judged the same.
Anywho that is just my opinion, but Gears for sure is absolutly not a FPS.
yes and no throughout the campaign the characters refer to themselves as I but the player controls the character in 3rd person view, almost like your a cameraman watching the duo (Dom and Marcus) sink jacinto!
