Would no kinect at 399 be enough to make you buy the xbox one

I'm getting one either way, but yes. A hundred dollars cheaper would be more reason to buy.

I'm getting one regardless, so I won't vote in your poll because it really doesn't apply to me.

I will say, however, that, if Microsoft were to offer 2 SKUs: $400w/o Kincet and the current $500w/Kinect SKU, I would stick with the $500w/Kinect SKU.

I'm willing to give Microsoft a shot at proving why this thing can make gaming/entertainment better.  I have my reservations on the matter, but I will give them the opportunity because I do have some thoughts on how it could, maybe, add something to games/entertainment.

If anything, I would like them to remove the mandatory connection between Xbox One and Kinect in the event I find no use for it.  It's not a big deal if they don't, though, because if I don't like it I'll simply turn it towards the wall and cover it up.

It would make a difference. Still rather unlikely. I don't think it's worth the price jump over the 360 (as I already own one).

Then again, the Xbox One would be rubbish without the Kinect at this point; the Kinect has become a very integral and vital part of the console as a whole. So those who say they are being forced to buy a Kinect are wrong. They are only buying the complete console. It's $500 take it or leave it. It isn't $100 more or less with or without a Kinect, respectively. Just something to think about.

No.

I had already decided to go with Sony for the next generation since I have never owned a Sony console (besides PSP) and I wanted to give them a chance. I also feel like Sony had a better line up of exclusives this gen so I hope they keep that up next gen as well.

I've already preordered my Xbox1 but $400 would seem like a bargain as I couldn't care any less about the kinect. I've found most of this sort of technology to be unresponsive and unforgiving and it's appeal quickly wares off.

Yeah, no Kinect requirement which would make the console $100 cheaper, would make me select an Xbox One over a PS4. I prefer just using a controller over voice commands and motion gesture. I think Kinect is a gimmick like the Wii was that will eventually fade out.

Voted no because I wanted Kinect included as standard. Lack of Kinect is actually a turn off.magicalclick

Exactly

Don't know why some morons would want an Xbox One without all it's features thereby making a split in it's base and making it a less effective console overall.

Yes. Now that they have reversed all their poor policies the only thing stopping me is principle. I will not pay an extra hundred dollars for a kinect when I don't want or need one.

Still a no. I told myself years ago if my 360 ever red ringed, i'm done. It happened and I got the 360 slim, but I don't trust MS anymore. They're done to me. Plus i'd rather have the better hardware with the PS4 and it's so much smaller than the X1 it's ridiculous. Other than the controller, i'm not really missing the X1. I can't wait to try the DS4, the DS3 hurts my hand.

The kinect is one of the main things setting this console apart from the competition its a mistake to wish it wasnt included. If you watch some of the tech demo's its a really interesting piece of technology and I think there is real scope for it to greatly improve or at least enhance the way we play our games.

yes.

if microsoft offers an xbox one without kinect 2.0 for $399 and no future AAA epic titles require a kinect 2.0 i'll buy one for sure.

kinect 2.0 is the one thing out of all the things that i dislike the most about xbox one. if they get rid of it i'll love xbox one.

The Kinect is a supplement, one that a lot of people find annoying, un-necessary, and in some cases potentially intrusive. It's not as vital to the console as, let's say, extra memory would be. Kinecet is un-necessary, but if you want an Xbox One you're being forced to buy it whether you want it or not

the focus of the xbox one is clearly to be a multimedia device, and not a videogame console. i prefer my consoles to be consoles... so no, no price drop or feature removal would be enough to buy the thing. Also:

Xbox One created 'with advertising in mind'

yeah... no thanks.

This for me as well. I have pre-ordered the console knowing that while I don't really find the kinect useful on the current gen,  maybe next gen having 100% adoption rate will change all that. If not, oh well I guess my kids have something else to play around with.

Yes. Even though there's little difference in the two consoles it all boils down to exclusive titles. That's what makes a great game market.

No Kinect for 100 less would be nice. But is the Xbox 1 gonna flaws like the 360? Red ring of death and disc drive problems? I'm at my 8th or 9th 360 now. Most of my friends have also gone through many systems. I'm gonna sit back and wait a couple months after it's launched to see how it does. If no system breaking problems happen then no Kinect for 100 less sounds good to me.

That's the sort of unyielding loyalty that makes Microsoft think they can force what we don't want down our throats. Eight or nine 360's? Are you stupid? I've have the same system for four years now and I refuse to buy another one if it goes to hell. There's no way I would keep paying that much money several times over because they're systems are broken before they're even ready. **** that! I'm sorry friend, but I must call you and your friends pretty damn dumb.

This. Microsoft needs to ignore all the Kinect hate and include it or only a fraction will enjoy all the multimedia features they bragged about. The Kinect features will go down as the difference maker for why Xbox One gains mass appeal post launch. Especially if the truly adverse it during the inevitable ad campaign push for the holidays.

Yeah, I can't really get excited over the XBone even though I've been a 360 gamer for years and really enjoyed it. But the thing is, all of my income comes from babysitting, so it's taking me a while to save up for a next generation console, and I've already decided that I'm going to buy a Playstation 4 when it's available in my area. I'm only going to be able to afford one of them by that time, so I'll wait on the XBone until it's been out for a while and maybe come down a little in price.

Haven't made up my mind yet but the price isn't that big a deal to me anymore. When the 360 came out, I was still in junior high and without much money obviously. Now that I've finished college and have a regular income an extra $100 for a system I might own for seven or eight years is pretty meaningless. I'm more interested in how the Kinect will be used at this point and in more detail about the console before I decide, but the extra cost won't be my deciding factor.

100$ cheaper without an accessory I don't even want. This absolutely would drive me to buy the new box.

I'd be more comfortable with a no kinect Xbox 1. I'd buy the Kinect version, but the ability to turn it off or disconnect it would be a necessity for me. I'd still need to see Mercenaries 3 before I'd buy in, though.

And I'd be okay with that. It isn't the presence of the device that bugs me- it's the requirement.

Well it wouldn't hurt. I'm probably going to get it eventually. But if it comes down to money when I am buying a new console, it will be PS4. Well it will be PS4 no matter what, but with the xbox price that high it will be long before I get it.

aaand what is wrong with that exactly? that is all any new console is... the last one with better specs, which leads to better looking, bigger, more complex games. a console doesnt need to have drastically different features from last gen to be good, it just needs better specs, and good games.
