Im getting bored with Halo and Gears since they are the only two main games I play. There are no really good WRPGs out that I want to play and never really payed attention if not hated the stlye of the JRPG genre. Now Im currently looking into SO4. I heard the gameplay is really good and doesnt get old. As for the story i heard its not that great but I was never an SO4 fan to begin with (will be my first SO4 game) and will be my first JRPG in general.

That is my problem, mostly all the reviews stateSO4 builds on the current battle/combat style other JRPGs have which makes it so great butsince I have no prior experience to the JRPG style i do not how they place and how they differ from WRPGs. Ive ben looking at vids and reviews at the game and I see the general feel of how the game works. That being said watching is very different from actually playing it.

My question is would this game be the right game for a person who would be playing a JRPG for the first time and really investing in it? (I plan to put alot of time into it)

I've avoided most JRPG's honestly, but I liked what they did with Eternal Sonata. At the first of the game the battle system is tuned to give you time to think out a strategy and once you start moving then the turn starts. As you progress through the game the battle system will change giving you less time to think and more opportunities to combo. At its heart it is a turn based strategy, which I think is better tuned to learning than the real time, AI support, of the Tales series. I don't know how SO4 matches up to that though...

Well I havent played Star Ocean yet (hopefully next week), but if you are looking for a good starter RPG, I would recommend Infinite Undiscovery. One of the problems in reviews is it is shallow for an RPG, but if its your first RPG shallow isnt necissarily bad, as some can get rather overwhelming. Plus infinite Undiscovery isnt really a JRPG as much as a cross between a JRPG and an action/adventure game. I also played Lost Odyssey as my first JRPG and its good.

Start with LOST ODYSSEY, TALES OF VESPERIA OR LAST REMNANT!

Eternal Sonata and Star Ocean are also alot of fun!

Infinite Undiscovery and Blue Dragon are ok, but not the greatest.
