Ok guys, my problem is that when ever anybody else in my household use the internet it would severely lag my XBL experience and then it would be unplayable. I right now have 128Kbps and if one person uses a computer and go on Youtube or something that requires a lot of loading it would lower my bar to yellow if I'm Halo 3 or COD4. If two or more computers is a streaming a video it would be complete red and I would lag throughout the whole game. So if I upgrade my DSL to 768Kbps would it be fast enough for me to play a pretty smooth game or would I have to upgrade higher then that...?

just tell the to get the frag of the computer while you're on, or at least don't go streaming video and stuff.

There are three people in my house that uses the internet all at once. It kinda feels wrong to tell my family to all get off the computer so I can only use it for XBL...

Only 128kbits/sec? That by itself is not even enough for most games. It's only just over double dial-up speed.

7 megs is great. You will have a smooth onilne experience AND people can stream and download on the other computers at the same time.

Hard wire the ethernet connection though. It's more stable than wifi.

Better router can help at least for the traffic on your end of the network. But if your ISP's network is screwed up, there isn't much you can do, other than switch for someone who has their act together (if possible). Also, if you've got to share your connection with a lot of people, definitely consider a faster speed tier, ideally one with a good, high amount of upload bandwidth. Good upload speeds will make a big difference especially if you need to host any games.

199 is a bit much for a router. you can get a great one for half th price Im sure.

anyways yes upgrade your ISP 128kbs is very low for gaming. I have 3.5Mbs up and I still experience lag issues when someone uses the computer(downloading, sstreaming etc)

I got this router for 179.99 with a 30 dollar bestbuy gift card last week. You can probably find it on sale somewhere.

128kbps is TOO slow. At least 1mbps will help clear up some lag. But if the host is too more than 2500 miles your still going to lag a bit.
